Q and A with 2014 Tiffin Commit: Ryan Kennedy (Hamilton HS)

Ryan Kennedy, OF, Hamilton HS, Class of 2014

PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?

Kennedy: At the end of the day, I chose Tiffin because I believe out of all the schools I visited it was all around the best fit for me and was where I could be the most successful. I love the direction the baseball program is going in and I believe I can make an impact right away, the facilities are gorgeous, and academically their criminal justice program is second to none.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Kennedy: I was also considering Miami of Ohio, Evansville, and Lake Erie

PBR:  Where did Tiffin first see you compete?

Kennedy: Last winter at their prospect camp.

PBR: Coach Wilkins has brought a lot of excitement to the Dragon baseball program in his first full season.  What are some of the skills that you will bring to the table at Tiffin?

Kennedy: Both my bat speed at the plate and my defensive abilities in the outfield.

PBR: What kind of role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Kennedy: Both, Coach Wilkins and Coach Richardson expect me to fight for an outfield spot from day one.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Kennedy: Both my father and my hitting instructor Leon Durham.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Kennedy: I play for the Cincinnati Flames in the summer and my most exciting memory came during last high school season hitting a lead off double and scoring the go ahead run to beat our rival Badin last season.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Hamilton?

Kennedy: .303 BA, .401 OBP, 4 triples, 4 doubles, 5 stolen bases, 20 RBI, 1.000 fielding pct, 41 Put Outs, 4 assists, 0 errors. But the most important stat was our 21-6 record as a team.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Kennedy: That's a tough question. I'm not sure who the toughest Ohio pitcher I faced would be, but I faced a pitcher from the Dominican at East Cobb who had just been drafted by the Marlins. That was a rough experience for all of us.
