PBR: Why did you choose Marshall?
Simon: I chose Marshall University because it seems like a right fit for me and I have good connection with the coaches there, but most importantly it is a great place to continue my education and get me prepared for the real world.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Simon: When I received the offer from Marshall I knew I wanted to go there but before then I was considering Ohio State, Florida International, and University of Cincinnati.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you compete?
Simon: 17U Perfect Game WWBA
PBR: You are going into your junior season. Why did you choose to make your decision so early? Are you completely finished with the recruiting process or are you still open to other options?
Simon: I grew up around baseball players my whole life and they taught me the things to look for into making a college decision and I saw those things in Marshall. The coaching staff at Marshall has made me feel very comfortable and it defintely help with my decision.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Simon: Like I said before I grew up around Division I baseball, so I kind of knew what to expect during the recruiting process. Also the Midland organization helped me gain exposure in tournament and showcases.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Simon: There has been a couple of big impacts on me as a baseball player but my dad and grandpa where the ones that taught me to play baseball and taught me to love the game of baseball first.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Simon: I play for the Midland Braves during the summer and one of my most exciting experience's this summer was throwing a 1 hitter with 12 strikeouts in the 17U Perfect Game WWBA.
PBR: What were your stats last season for Amelia?
Simon: 22 innings pitched, 30 strikeouts, 2.3 ERA, and .183 batting average against.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter you have faced in Ohio?
Simon: One of my toughest hitters I had to face was one of my teammates actually, Zach Shannon
