Q and A with 2014 Lake Erie Commit: Brian Bullock (Loveland HS)
March 31, 2014
Brian Bullock, RHP, Loveland HS, Class of 2014
PBR: Why did you choose Lake Erie?
Bullock: I chose Lake Erie because the coaching staff was the best that I had come in contact with. The school and team had a very family like feel to it, and Coach McGee assured me that I would be an immediate impact player from the moment I stepped on campus.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Bullock: Other schools that I was considering were NKU, Xavier, Morehead State, Bellarmine, and Tiffin
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Bullock: The coaching staff first saw me at Top Prospect Games, I went up for a private on-campus workout in the winter and ever since then Coach McGee has been staying in contact with me and our relationship has been growing ever since.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Bullock: Coach McGee said that I would be most likely one of the main bullpen guys to start the year but if I keep progressing like I am then I can earn a starting spot in the rotation by mid-year.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Storm baseball?
Bullock: My biggest strength as a pitcher is how hard I compete and the energy I bring. Some other strengths is that I have a 4 pitch mix and I can throw them all for strikes at any count in any situation. I am not an over-powering 6-foot plus pitcher but I am always a guy that steps on the mound and expects to win every time and I fell like my teammates feed off that. I think that not only I will help the team on the field but more importantly in the offseason I work harder than anyone else and hopefully the guys will feed off that.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Bullock: Last summer, I played for Cincinnati Baseball Club and my coach was Cary Daniels. My most memorable moment was pitching against the Midland Redskins and keeping them scoreless.
PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at Loveland?
Bullock: 56 IP 5-2, 2 saves, 33 k's, 1.00 WHIP, 1.71 ERA, 2 shutouts, 5 CG
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Bullock: The toughest hitter I have faced in Ohio is T.J. Nichting.
