Q and A with 2013 Tiffin Commit: Brady Ward (Miami Trace HS)
July 23, 2013
Brady Ward, RHP, Miami Trace HS, Class of 2013
PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?
Ward: I choose Tiffin for many reasons.
Academically the school is very well known, the
environment they create on campus is great,
facilities are outstanding and the baseball program
is heading in the right direction under Coach Wilkins.
I felt like the school both from an academic
standpoint and baseball aspect fit me well and I am
very excited what my future at Tiffin holds.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Ward: I was considering dozens of schools from the start and overtime began to narrow it
down by the end I had received interest and offers from schools at D1 to NAIA level but in
the end my final choice was made between Tiffin and Adrian College.
PBR: Where did Tiffin first see you compete?
Ward: Tiffin had first saw me at the Top Prospects game last summer and then had asked
me up for a camp last fall that I was not able to make and then at the conclusion of this
spring season I went up for a workout that kind of sealed the deal for them.
PBR: Coach Wilkins is putting together quite an impressive recruiting class in
just his first year at the helm as the Head Coach of the Dragons. How does it feel
to be a part of his first recruiting class?
Ward: It is a great feeling. I have played against many of the other kids that are apart of
this recruiting class and I feel like its going to be a great group of players that will lead to
a lot of success for Tiffin in the near future.
PBR: What kind of role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on
campus?
Ward: The coaches expect me to come in my first year and take up innings on the mound.
Most likely from a bullpen role but with progress could be working into the starting rotation.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?.
Ward: My dad has played an unbelievable role in my career as a baseball player. He has
supported me throughout my entire career and I can not thank him for all he has done in
helping me to accomplish so much. My summer coach Justin Parker has also placed a
huge impact on my career, changing my approach at the game and making me the player
I am today. He does a great job of continuing to challenge you as a player and demands
more out of you each time while forcing you to be a better player than before each time
you play. I would also like to thank my summer coach Gregg Beemer and high school
coach Chris Miller for their impacts on my career as well!
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting
experience?
Ward: I play for the Dayton Classics in the summer and my most exciting experience
would have to be the CABA 17U World Series to end last summer. It was an incredible
tournament for us and kind of the cherry on top for a great summer season as we finished
3rd against some great competition while defeating Bergen Beach, who year in and year
out has great success at CABA.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Miami Trace?
Ward: 12G, 8-1, 2 Saves, 60 2/3 innings, 0.58ERA, 98K, 35hits, 23BB, 0.956WHIP,
0.253OBP, 0.161BAA
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Ward: To actually pick out one hitter that just sticks out would be hard. Playing for the
Classics has been an awesome experience and allowed me to throw against not only
some of the best hitters in Ohio but also many hitters across the midwest area.
