April 14, 2013
Mitch McNabb, RHP, Bishop Ready HS, Class of 2013
PBR: Why did you choose Marietta?
McNabb: Their history speaks for itself. I want to play in a program where there is a chance to win a national championship. Plus they have an excellent academic reputation.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
McNabb: A number of schools but it came down to Marietta, Otterbein and Ashland.
PBR: Where did the Marietta coaches first see you?
McNabb: Marietta first saw me at the Unsigned Senior Showcase in December.
PBR: Marietta won the Division III National Championship back to back years. How does it feel know that you will be playing for a national contender the next 4 years?
McNabb: Playing for a school with the history and tradition like Marietta will be a honor for me. I look forward to competing at the top level of division 3 baseball.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
McNabb: The coaches expect me to work hard in the weight room and be a contributor out of the bullpen for my first year.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this past summer?
McNabb: In the summer I play for the Columbus Storm. My most memorable moment was playing at Notre Dame. The field was the best field I have played on.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
McNabb: My parents have had the biggest impact on me. They have pushed me and inspired me on the field, in the classroom, and to be a better person off the field than on the field.
PBR: What were your stats this last season at Bishop Ready?
McNabb: I don't have my high school stats but in the summer I was 6-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 44 strikeouts.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
McNabb: toughest hitter I have faced in Ohio would have to be Jacob Brobst who played at Watterson last season and is now at Ohio State. He is such a tough out and fights off pitches until he can get on he can hit.
