PBR: Why did you choose Akron?
Iero: I chose Akron because I really like the coaches and the direction the program is going in. I feel it's a really good fit for me.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Iero: Kent State, Ohio State, and Marshall showed interest.
PBR: Where did Akron coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Iero: The coaches came to a district tournament game, and over the summer they came to a lot of games.
PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?
Iero: It feels good that all the hard work has paid off and I want to compete at the highest level possible.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Iero: To show up in shape, practice hard and play hard when I get the chance.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Iero: My high school summer team, the North Canton Vikings. And beating Ohio Elite in the CABA World Series was my most memorable experience.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Iero: I also play basketball and football so I was happy I was able to verbally commit to Akron.
PBR: What were your stats this spring season at North Canton Hoover?
Iero: I set a school record for hits in a season with 44. BA .431, 13 doubles, 1 triple, and OPS 1.073.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Iero: John Schaly
