Last year, Keystone High School was primed to make a run deep into the Division III state tournament. Lead by right-handed pitcher Brandyn Sittinger, who is now at Marshall, and right-handed pitcher Caleb Schillace, who is now at Toledo, the Wildcats put together a 21-9 record while capturing the Patriot Athletic Conference title and making a regional final appearance.
Now, the torch is being passed on to a talented junior class, which grew by one at the semester with the addition of Tyler Gullet, who transferred from St. Edwards HS. Overall, Coach Fitzgerald’s squad returns six starters and two pitchers. Looking ahead, the Wildcats will likely battle Buckeye HS, Firelands HS, and Wellington HS for Patriot Conference title.
Class of 2014
- OF/RHP Marcus Gunter – The 6-foot-1, 190-pound two-way prospect oozes athleticism. He figures to be one of the Wildcats top arms with a fastball that reaches into the upper 80’s as well as the everyday centerfielder.
- IF/RHP Kendle Stiner – The 6-foot, 195-pound prospect is a talented two-way prospect with a fastball that sits in the mid 80’s.
- IF/OF/RHP Tyler Gullett – The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect is one of the top prospects in his class statewide. He shows mid 80’s arm strength across the diamond, 6.8 speed, and a middle of the order bat.
- Catcher Pierce Young – The 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect will likely start behind the plate.
- RHP/OF Colin Fitzgerald – The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect will help on the mound and in the field.
- LHP Mike Martin – The 6-foot-1, 165-pound southpaw will fill a role in the pitching rotation.
- 1B Korey Horne – The 5-foot-5, 225-pound prospect will man the corner and play a role in the Wildcat’s offense.
Class of 2015
- IF Arron Brodnik – The 5-foot-10, 135-pound prospect will compete for an infield spot.
