On Sunday, October 14th, over 55 players came together for the Miami Valley Open ID Showcase at Sinclair Community College's field house. Over the course of the next two days, we will release stories on the top players in attendance as well as analysis for all players in attendance.

AJ Kazmierczak, C/IF, Westfall HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect. Medium body player with some physical projection. Registered 7.71 60 yard dash and 68 mph arm strength. Infield skills shows good hands and release. Needs to improve body balance and patting the glove before throwing. Receives & blocks well behind the plate. Pop times (2.28 to 2.37) will improve with better glove to hand exchange. Has wide hitting base in an open stance. Shows inside-out tendencies.
Alex Mezcua, RHP, Mason HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Good pitchers body. Has high back side arm extension with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Fastball velocity ranged 77-79 mph; breaking ball was slurvy type with some feel (66-67 mph) with straight change ranging 69-70 mph.
Alexander Staron, IF/RHP, Athens HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect. Registered 7.84 60 yard dash and 74 mph arm strength. Fields ball well at both positions but needs to enhance overall body balance. Has chest level hand trigger out of upright hitting stance. Shows some upper cut in swing path. Could benefit by adding more top hand in swing and lower body torque. On the mound, has high backside arm extension. Fastball velocity ranges 72-74 mph. Has some feel for off speed pitches - downward tilt curve (54-56 mph) and some sink action on change (67-68 mph).
Alexander Theiss, RHP, Sylvania Southview HS, Class of 2014
6-foot, 160-pound prospect. Lanky body with some physical projection. Good delivery with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Fastball velocity ranged 78-79 mph with some occasional cut action. Has feel for downward spin curveball (67-69 mph) and some run on changeup (70-73 mph).
Andrew Wingo, RHP/IF, Teays Valley HS, Class of 2016
5-foot-11, 135-pound prospect. Young player with some physical projection. Will benefit with added strength. Needs to improve raw skills (8.01 60 yard dash and 68 mph arm strength). Shows good infield skills. Hits from upright stance with chest level hand trigger. Has some upper cut but needs improved lower body torque. On the hill, has short arm action, moderate arm speed through 3/4 slot. Fastball velocity sits 67-69 mph with curve/cutter (55-58 mph) and change (65 mph).
Ben Langdon, RHP, Troy HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-2, 170-pound prospect. Lanky body with loose arm. Moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Uses downward plane. Fastball velocity ranges from 78-79 mph with some life. Shows feel for off speed pitches; curve has slurvy action (65-67 mph) and some arm side run on changeup (66-68 mph).
Brandon Veda, LHP/1B, Bishop Fenwick HS, Class of 2015
6-foot, 170-pound prospect. Young player who will benefit with an increase of physical maturation. Ran 8.47 60 yard dash. Infield skills showed good hands and range. Will need to improve footwork and arm strength (69 mph). Hits with upright stance and triggers hands from chest causing some upper cut. Needs enhancement with hand finish and lower body torque. Has moderate arm speed as a hurler through 3/4 arm slot. Fastball velocity sat 70-72 mph with little feel on curve (59-60 mph) and change (64 mph).
Braydon Focht, RHP/IF, Northmont HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-1, 150-pound prospect. Body shows some projectable physical strength. Shows some balance in pitching delivery with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball showed some life ranging 79-81 mph. Showed some feel for off-speed; curveball with some downward spin (67-68 mph) and change with some sink (71-72 mph). Has good infield skills. Hands and feet work well and shows arm strength (79 mph). Needs to improve foot speed (7.31 60 yard dash). Hits with width in stance, has controlled upper-cut, triggering hands at shoulder.
Cameron Gordon, RHP, Piqua HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 140-pound right-handed pitcher. Uses moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows some cut action ranging 78-80 mph. Has slurvy tilt breaking ball (65-66 mph) and shows some downward sink on 72-73 mph changeup.
Chase Antle, RHP, Grove City HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect. Good pitcher's body. Has downward plane from upper 3/4 arm slot. Tends to "jerk" his head in delivery which hinders control and balance. Has projectable arm. Fastball shows some life, ranging 79-81 mph. Has some feel for downward tilt curve (61-63 mph); change up is fairly straight (69-72 mph).
Cole Music, LHP, Watkins Memorial, Class of 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound prospect. Delivery shows some balance and doesn’t require much effort. Has moderate arm speed through ¾ to low ¾ arm slot. Fastball fairly straight (67-68 mph). Has some feel for off speed pitches; curve has some downward spin (62-63 mph) and some run action on change up (62-65 mph). Also has slurvy slider (65-66).
Connor Echols, 3B/RHP, Sidney HS, Class of 2015
5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect. Smallish build with some athleticism. Will benefit with further physical maturation. Ran 7.34 60 yard dash with 73 mph arm strength. Needs enhancemnt with body balance and footwork. Hits from upright hit stance. Triggers hands from shoulder. Has inside-out tendencies. Needs to improve clearing front side in swing. Has some power potential. Has moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot as a pitcher. Has long backside arm extension. Fastball velocity sits 77-78 mph; shows downward spin on curve (64-66 mph). Change up sits at 64-66 mph.
Daniel O’Keefe, OF/3B, Centennial HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect. Strong body with some baseball sense. Fields ball well. Needs to improve fluidity of actions and crow hop. Solid arm strength (79 mph). Ran 7.48 60 yard dash. Left-handed hitter that hits from an open stance, triggering hands from shoulder level. Has some upper cut in swing path. Does have hand finish and lower body torque. Some power potential to his swing.
Dominic Cooper, IF, Grove City HS, Class of 2014
Hits with open stance. Gets barrel into zone from shoulder trigger with some upper cut path. Gets some hand finish in swing and lower half tourque. Ran 7.11 60 yard dash. Needs to improve arm strength and arm slot. Will enhance infield skills with improved fluidity of his’ actions.
Eric Callahan, IF, Bexley HS, Class of 2016
5-foot-3, 105-pound prospect. Young player that shows good defensive skills with hands and footwork. Needs to increase his raw skills (8.0 60 yard dash and 61 mph arm strength). Swings from open stance. Upper body hitter. Flat plane bat path from chest level trigger. Needs improvement in hand finish and lower body torque.
Eric Hansman, OF, Vandalia-Butler HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect. Posses athletic body with some projection. Shows good outfield skills with solid arm strength (81 mph). Ran 7.44 60-yard dash. Hits out of crouch. Has some bat speed into zone from shoulder trigger. Shows some upper cut in path. Potential power in his swing. Needs improvement in clearing front side more consistently and more lower body torque.
Ethan Fremder, C/3B, Piketon HS, Class of 2015
6-foot, 220-pound prospect. Shows some potential with his bat. Hits from upright stance. Swing is compact from shoulder trigger. Power potential. Showed good hand finish in swing with lower body torque. Needs improvement with raw skills (7.56 60 yard dash and 65 arm strength). Catching also needs improved footwork and glove to hand exchange (2.28/2.31 split).
Greg Jacknewitz, LHP/1B, Bishop Watterson HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect. Tall, lanky body with two-way potential. On the hill, balanced delivery with downward plane path. Upper 3/4 arm slot with moderate arm speed. Shows some cut action on fastball (78-79 mph) with some late bite on curve/slider (68-72 mph). Changeup is fairly straight (71-72 mph). Glove-wise, fields position well with hands and feet. Ran 7.61 60 yard dash with 71 mph arm strength. Has hitting ability. Hits with open stance with good bat speed from shoulder trigger. Has good hand finish and lower body torque.
Greg Suber, C/RHP, Delaware Hayes HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect. Strong bodied player. Catches and frames ball well defensively. Needs to enhance lower lateral movement and glove to hand exchange (2.2 split). Hits out of slight open front side crouch. Triggers hands from chest level. Does have hand finish in swing with some lower body torque. On the mound, he uses moderate arm speed through 3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 75-77 mph with some late bite on breaking ball (slurvy) 69-71 mph. Straight change at 73-74 mph.
Jake Holland, IF, Centerville HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 185-pound prospect. Solid body kid. Ha some raw skills (7.56 60 yard dash with 77 mph arm strength. Shows average hands and feet with glove work. Needs to improve body balance. Hits with wide stance. Triggers hands from shoulder with some bat speed. Shows some potential for power in his swing.
Jared Mitchener, LHP, Wilmington HS, Class of 2015
5-foot-9, 145-pound prospect. Smallish body. Needs to enhance physical strength. Moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball velocity sits 60-62 mph. Shows some spin on curve (52-53 mph) and feel for changeup (57-59 mph).
Jeffrey Hughes, IF, Bexley HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-8, 130-pound prospect. Smallish body who will benefit with increase of physical strength. Registered 7.71 60 yard dash with 64 mph arm strength. Shows hands and footwork. Hits from slight crouch, triggers hands from chest causing flat plane bat path. Has good hand finish.
Jonathan Griebel, C/INF, Whetstone HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 155-pound prospect. Shows good athleticism with raw skills (7.11 60 yard dash and 75 mph arm strength). Shows balance, range and feet defensively but needs to enhance hands. Has open hitting stance. Needs to shorten his foot base (tends to stride too far). Has chest level hand trigger. Needs enhancement in hand finish and lower body torque.
Kyle Decker, IF, Goshen HS, Class of 2015
5-foot-10, 140-pound prospect. Smallish player, Should improve with physical maturation. Has good infield hands and feet. Needs improvement in raw skills (7.94 60 yard dash and 70 mph arm strength) and overall body balance. Hits from crouch. Triggers hands from chest with some upper cut. Has some bat finish with hands. Needs to improve lower body torque.
Kyle Pasheilich, 3B/RHP, Ontario HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 160-pound prospect. Smallish body. Shows some hands & feet defensively. Will need to improve raw skills (7.75 60 yard dash and 72 arm strength). Uses open hitting stance. Does not square front side and triggers hands from chest causing flat bat path. On the hill, has moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Shows loose arm. Fastball ranges 73-75 mph with some feel on downward tilt curve (63-64mph) and straight change (67-68 mph).
Matt Bogan, RHP, Mechanicsburg HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect. Has lanky body type body. Moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball velocity ranges 75-76 mph. Off speed is slurvy plane type curve ball (65-66) with some feel. Changeup is fairly straight in action (67-68 mph).
Matt Entsminger, OF/LHP, Bellefontaine HS, Class of 2015
5-foot-7, 145-pound prospect. Athletic smallish build player. Good raw skills. Ran 7.0 60 yard dash with solid arm strength (78 mph). Good outfield skills, showing range and good over top throwing motion. Hits with upright stance. Basically upper body hitter. Uses chest trigger with some upper cut swing path. On the bump, has some violence in delivery with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Fastball ranged 73-74 mph with some feel for curve (65-66 mph) and change (66-67 mph).
Matt Wilch, OF/LHP, River Valley HS, Class of 2015
5-foot-9, 140-pound two position player. Shows moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot as a pitcher. Fastball ranges 70-73 mph. Has some feel of downward tilt curve (63-64 mph) and straight change (63-64 mph). Registered 7.84 60 yard dash and 74 mph arm strength. Needs to improve fluidity of fielding actions. Hits from upright stance. Has inside-out tendencies. Has some bat speed and hand finish in swing.
Nick Wiseman, OF/3B, Northeastern HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect. Shows some athleticism and physical projection. Good raw skills (6.81 60 yard dash and 75 mph arm strength). Needs to continue to improve balance and fluidity in defensive actions. Shows raw skills at this point. Has open hitting stance. Sqaures front side to pitcher. Triggers hands from chest which causes flat bat plane. Has good finish in swing and some lower body torque.
Richard Nolde, 1B/RHP, Alter HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 230-pound prospect. Stocky build who offers some strength. Has good hands and feet defensively. Needs to improve arm strength (71 mph) and foot speed (8.15 60 yard dash). Hits with upright stance. Offers some power potential. Triggers hands from chest. Has flat plane swing into zone. Has compact delivery as a pitcher with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 am slot. Fastball velocity sits 70-72 mph; slurvy breaking ball ranged 63-64 mph. Had little feel on curve (57-61 mph) and change (66-67 mph).
Ryan Curtis, RHP/C, Westerville North HS, Class of 2014
6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect. Offers two-shot potential. Good body strength. On the hill, has compact delivery with moderate arm speed from 3/4 slot. Fastball ranged 77-78 mph with some feel for off-speed; downward spin curve (68-69 mph) and change with some sink (69-71 mph). Has good developing catching skills with good split time release (2.06 to 2.09). Hits with low hand trigger which cause a flat plane swing. Has good swing finish but needs to enhance more lower body torque.
Skyler Kelly, IF, Carlisle HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect. Athletic player with some physical projection. Shows infield skills with range, hands and feet. Uses 3/4 arm slot and shows some strength. Ran 7.21 60 yard dash. Hits from upright stance. Has low hand trigger set with some bat speed. Shows some good hand finish in swing.
Spencer Howell, IF, Oakwood HS, Class of 2015
5-foot-5, 130-pound infielder. Smallish body middle infielder with baseball sense. Should improve with increase physical maturation. Has good balance. Shows average hands and feet defensively for his age. Will need to improve arm strength (65 mph) and foot speed (8.1 60 yard dash). Hits with open stance, triggers hands from shoulder with good hand finish.
Steven Foster, 1B, Whetstone HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 190-pound prospect. Strong medium body. Bat is his best tool. Shows power potential. Hits with low hand set, squares barrel on ball with good hand finish. Ran 7.38 60 yard dash. Defensively, his hands and footwork are good but has room for improvement. Showed 61 mph arm strength.
Taylor Baumeister, RHP/INF, Piqua HS, Class of 2014
5-foot-9, 140-pound prospect. Shows good infield skills with hands and feet. Needs some enhancement in body balance. Registered a 7.58 60 yard dash and 73 mph arm strength across the infield. Hits with open stance, triggering hands from shoulder causing upper cut path. Inside out tendency. Needs lower half enhancement. Has quick arm speed from the bump through 3/4 arm slot. Has some funk in back side. Needs to improve lower half in delivery. Fastball velocity is 77-78 mph with arm action on change (68-71 mph). Inconsistent feel for curve (64-66 mph).
Tyler Spires, 1B, Lancaster HS, Class of 2016
5-foot-4, 125-pound prospect. Smallish player who will benefit with increase of physical maturation which should improve raw skills (9.31 60 yard dash and 53 mph arm strength). Shows good skills around bag (hands & feet). Hits with upright stance; has low hand set trigger and upper cut. Needs to improve hand finish and lower half torque.
Vinny Sansalone, C, Ontario HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 160-pound prospect. Aggressive kid who catches and blocks well. Needs to improve glove to hand exchange plus arm slot (staying on top); split time 2.31-2.33. Hits from upright stance. Triggers hands from chest, causing a flat bat plane. Swing will be enhanced with more top hand and lower body torque.
