No. 2 ranked Cincinnati Moeller advances to the district finals after beating No. 25 Cincinnati Anderson with a score of 3-0 Thursday evening.

Brian Burkhart, threw a no-hitter, allowing just one Anderson batter on base via a walk.

The story of this game was all about the pitching throughout. The teams would put their respected aces out there in Anderson's, Nick Mason (2012), and Moeller's, Brian Burkhart (2012). Both would see a lot of 1,2,3 innings all throughout their outing.

Nick Mason didn't give us his first run in the game till the bottom of the 6th inning. Things began when sophomore Riley Mahan (2014) doubled to the left center gap and putting the go ahead run on base. A sac-bunt from Ryan LeFevers (2012) would move Mahan to third base. This is the first time where Nick Mason would see trouble in the ball game. Moeller was in need of a clutch hit and it came when Ty Amann (2012) drove the ball up the middle to give Moeller the 1-0 advantage. They wouldn't be done at that point, with Amann on first, Spencer Iacovone (2013) would hit a towering homer over the left field fence to give them the 3-0 advantage going into the final inning.

That would be Nick Mason's final inning of the day, leaving him stuck with the loss. Mason's fastball was clocked around 86 mph, with a change going at 72 mph, and his curve around 74 mph.

With Moeller scoring three in the bottom half of the 6th, that would be more than enough runs for Brian Burkhart to close out one of the best games of his career. He would successfully shut down the core of the Anderson order in 1,2,3 fashion. The Moeller senior would allow just 1 walk over his 7 innings of work, and not allow a single Anderson hit. His fastball was clocked at 83 mph with a curve around 71 mph. Burkhart would pitch a no hitter and leave Moeller in a great position to advance to state.
