PBR Spotlight Game: West Holmes HS at Ashland HS

ASHLAND, OHIO -- West Holmes High School traveled to Ashland High School in an Ohio Cardinal Conference matchup.
West Holmes Knights ace Butch Baird faced off against with Ashland Arrows starter Tyson Vogel.
It did not take long for the scoring to get started as leadoff hitter Butch Baird was plated in the first inning off a Levi Jones single. This gave West Holmes a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the 1st.
In the bottom of the 1st, Ashland struck back putting up two runs. Pitcher Tyson Vogel stroked an RBI single, and David Van Hove also recorded an RBI on a perfectly executed squeeze play. West Holmes pitcher Baird quickly settled in after the first.
Butch Baird helped tie the game with his bat as he hit an RBI single up the middle tying the score 2-2 in the 2nd.
After a quick 3rd inning West Holmes was ready to take control of the game. Three hole hitter Gabe Snyder (commited to Wright State), and cleanup hitter Keaton Leppla both struck RBI singles pushing their lead to 4-2.
Sitting 84-85 mph Baird was cruising through game recording seven strikeouts through the 5th inning.
West Holmes was able to add a little insurance in the 6th. Baird added another RBI stroking a double down the right field line. At the plate, Baird went 2-3 with a single, double, and two walks. Shortly after, Gabe Snyder hit a sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the game making the score 6-2.
Going into the 7th the score was 6-3 with Ashland scoring off a sacrifice fly.
Both teams were able to plate a run in the 7th making the final score 7-4 in West Holmes favor. Baird in the complete game win struck out ten Ashland hitters.
