AVON- In the final game of the Ohio Jesuit Cup, the 12th ranked St. Xavier Bombers faced the host 50th ranked St. Ignatius Wildcats. The Bombers scored three runs in the final two innings to take a 7-4 victory to improve their record to 16-4 on the season, while the Wildcats fell to 14-9.

Tied at 4-4, one-out walks to Griffin Doile and Joe Gellenbeck started the St. X 6th and Jordan Mcdonough followed with an RBI double. After a strikeout, sophomore CJ Hilliard made it 6-4 with a single up the middle.

The Bombers added a run in the top of the 7th. Senior Alex Hart led off with a single, Conor Hundley reached on a fielder's choice and eventually scored on an RBI single by Doile.

St. Xavier got things rolling in the 1st as speedy center fielder Hundley led off with a walk and stole second. After a walk, Griffin sacrificed to move runners to second and third. Gellenbeck then plated Hundley with an RBI groundout.

The Wildcats matched with a run of their own on an RBI single by senior Tim McCoy which scored junior Connor Hennessey, who reached after being plunked to lead off the inning.

The Bombers scored two runs in the top of the 2nd. Senior Dominic Plageman started the frame with a single and Hilliard reached on a walk to put runners on first and second. After a wild pitch moved the runners up, Plageman scored on an RBI groundout by Hart. Senior Michael Hedgebeck brought home Hilliard with an RBI single.

St. Ignatius scored in the bottom of the 2nd off of Gellebeck, the St. X pitcher, when Hennessey's ground out plated senior Tim Hawkins.

With the Wildcats down 3-2, Dan Rowbottom led off the bottom of the 3rd with a double and later scoring on an RBI groundout by senior Stephen Alexander.

With the score knotted at 3-3, the Bombers added a run. Hundley opened with a single and stole second. After an error and a sac bunt Gellenbeck delivered again with an RBI single.

St. Ignatius tied the game up at 4-4 in the bottom of the 5th with a single by Alexander scoring McCoy, who had earlier tripled.
