PBR Spotlight Game: DI No. 43 Watkins Memorial at DI No. 34 Olentangy

Lewis Center, OH – Olentangy took advantage of an abundance of errors to take its first win of the season over Watkins Memorial with a score of 11-5. This coming a day after Watkins, Chandler Day, Vanderbilt recruit, tossed a 6 inning No-Hitter versus Lakewood.
Watkins Memorial jumped on the board in the top of the first when Seth Casto laced a RBI double to left field for a 1-0 advantage.
However, the Braves would quickly answer back when Christian McFarland reached on an error and starting pitcher, Grant Helber would drive him in with a double down the left field line.
After a scoreless second inning by both teams, the scoreboard lit up on both sides of the diamond in the third.
Watkins’s took advantage of back to back leadoff walks to score a total of four runs in the top frame. The inning was sparked by a 2-run double by Steven Asbury and a RBI single by Casto.
Olentangy responded with a big inning of their own. Aided by three defensive errors, the Braves crossed the plate 5 times to take a 6-5 lead. Deeb Haber’s RBI double and Luke Porter RBI single paced the offense in the inning.
After third inning the Braves pitching staff and defense settled down and held their opponents scoreless for the last four innings. Porter and Jordan Ustaszewski were the relievers that perched the hill for latter half of the game.
The Brave offense continued to add runs over the next two innings. Scoring was highlighted when Connor Brett hit a 2-run homer over the centerfield wall.
Olentangy evened its record at 1-1 and will next face Dublin Coffman.
While, Watkins Memorial suffered their first loss of the season for a record of 1-1.
