PBR Spotlight Game: #7 Stryker vs #20 Edon

STRYKER – When you travel to watch the Division IV Preseason Pitcher of the Year and a pitcher who is coming off a 20 strikeout performance, a 1-0 game is almost expected and that is what we got in Stryker as the 7th ranked Panthers topped the 20th ranked Edon Bombers.

Edon's junior lefty Landon Bloir was cruising through five hitless innings, racking up six strikeouts.

Parker Ruffer vs EdonIn the 6th, the 6-foot southpaw gave up a single to his counterpart Parker Ruffer (Toledo commit, pictured right). Ruffer was left stranded on the bases however as we headed into the 7th knotted at 0-0.

Edon biggest threat to scored came in the 7th.

After back-to-back strikeouts by Ruffer, a dropped fly ball in center allowed Jordan Stuart to reach base. A walk and infield single by Preston Klinger and Braden Miller followed, loading the bases for the Bombers two-hole hitter.

Colton Lyman roped a shot that one-hopped Stryker's shortstop Chad Ruffer. The junior calmly picked the ball, tossing it over to Austin Frisbie (sophomore) at second.

Heading into the bottom of the 7th, Bloir headed out to the mound allowing just one hit to this point on the game.

Frisbie drew a walk to lead-off the inning for the Panthers. After a strikeout, sacrifice bunt and walk, sophomore Tyrel Patterson came to the plate the biggest at bat of his young career.

Landon Bloir vs StrykerThe outfielder drove a tailing fastball from Bloir (pictured left) and roped a line shot to right field, scoring Frisbie from second giving the Panthers a walk-off win over the rive Bombers.

This was a huge win within the Buckeye Border Conference as these two teams look to battle each other for the crown in 2015.

Parker was brilliant on the mound, allowing just four hits and two walks (one intentionally) while striking out 11 (including a stretch of 7 of 9 outs in the 5th-7th innings).

Bloir started out the game on fire, striking out 5 of the first 8 hitters but just wore out in the 7th. On the game, the junior lefty allowed just two hits, five walks while striking out seven.

Stryker looks to stay unbeaten as they host Wayne Trace Tuesday while Edon faces the defending state champ in Division IV, #3 ranked Tinora on Tuesday.
