PBR Ohio Unsigned Senior Showcase - The Best of the Rest

Today, we breakdown the best of the rest prospects from the Unsigned Senior Showcase on December 1st. The event featured over 45 players from four different states. There were over 20 colleges in attendance from six different states. The next Unsigned Senior Showcase will be in Columbus on January 27th.

Alec Taylor, C, Delta HS (IN), Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 185-pound catcher. Has good receiving and blocking skills with 79 mph arm strength. Split times (2.0-2.07) will improve with enhancement of glove to hand exchange. Hits from upright hitting stance. Has chest level hand trigger and flat bat path plane into zone. Makes contact with good lower half torque and one hand bat swing finish.
Ben Spitznagel, IF, Colerain HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 170-pound infielder best suited for second base. Good baseball sense type player who ran a good 7.01 60-yard dash. Shows good infield skills with hands and feet but more right side guy on next level with 74 mph arm strength. Could be possible outfield type as well. Hits from crouch. Has good bat speed into zone from shoulder trigger. Squares ball well with good hand finish. Needs more consistent lower body torque.
Bobby Spiers, OF, Westerville Central HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 185-pound corner outfielder type that shows good arm strength (81 mph) from the outfield with carry. Needs to quicken transfer and exchange. Ran 7.52 60-yard dash. Upper body type hitter that uses squared stance. Triggers hands from chest with upper-cut bat path into zone. Shows one-hand bat swing finish and needs. Needs to better incorporate lower half to enhance swing.
Cam Thompson, C, Whetstone HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 180-pound catcher with strong, physical build. Shows raw skills ability with 7.1 60-yard dash speed and 80 mph arm strength. Receives ball well but needs work in overall footwork set-up and glove to hand exchange to enhance split time (2.19-2.26). Hits from open stance. Has flat bat path plane from chest level trigger. Attacks ball well with some bat speed and lower body torque. Needs improvement in swing finish to enhance power.
Cameron Riddle, 3B/RHP, Princeton HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-8, 190-pound strong bodied player. Corner type with 7.51 60-yard speed and 73 mph arm strength from third base. Hits with open stance. Has chest level hand trigger and flat bat path plane into zone. Displays good use of lower half with one hand swing finish. Pitches with no wind-up, has moderate arm speed from 3/4 arm slot. Fastball ranges 76-77 mph some downward spin on 61-64 curveball. Shows some arm action on 71-72 mph changeup.
Chad Reed, RHP/OF, Xenia HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 175-pound multi-positioned player with two way ability. On the hill, uses no windup delivery with quick arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Uses lower half well. Fastball ranged 79-81 mph with good arm action on 71-73 changeup. Has some feel on slurvy tilt curveball (68-69 mph). Ran 7.35 60-yard dash with 77-78 mph arm strength from both outfield and infield. Shows range in infield but needs enhanced footwork. Shows some power potential from upright hitting stance. Has low hand swing trigger with some upper cut path. Good hand finish.
Chris Oberdick, LHP, Martins Ferry HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-2, 173-pound lanky bodied pitcher with some projection. Moderate arm speed through 3/4 arm slot. Delivery shows balance but needs more consistency in arm slot. Spots fastball at 74-76 mph with slurvy tilt curve (67-68 mph). Slider/cutter shows some tilt (67-69 mph) while change has some arm side run (70-71 mph).
Clay Barton, C, Montgomery Co HS (KY), Class of 2013
6-foot, 180-pound catcher. Body shows some durability. Receives ball well with good glove to hand exchange. Blocks well. Needs to improve set-up and footwork that will enhance pop time (2.1-2.16). Shows 72 mph arm strength and ran 7.57 60-yard time. Hits from open stance. Triggers hands from chest with some upper cut in swing path. Has good hand finish.
Cody Schuerman, C/OF, Lima Bath HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-6, 145-pound smallish type player. Ran 7.34 60-yard dash. Good outfield balance with 77 mph arm strength. Receives and blocks well behind plate. Needs to improve glove to hand exchange on throws. Split times 2.18-2.2 with 73 mph arm strength. Has open wide base stance. Upper body hitter with flat plane bat path and one hand swing finish.
Drew Miller, C, Walled Lake Central (MI), Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 155-pound catcher. Aggressive player who receives well behind the plate. Has 71 mph arm strength with 2.1/2.13 split time. Needs to improve footwork. Upper body type hitter with open base and shoulder level hand trigger. Has good hand finish in swing. Needs more consistent lower body torque to enhance power.
Jack Langer, 3B/RHP, Centerville HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 185-pound medium build player who ran a 7.65 60-yard dash. Shows range defensively. Needs to improve hands and 68 mph arm strength. Hits from open crouch. Upper body type hitter with wide stance. Triggers hands from chest. Has flat bat path into zone with good hand finish. Has long arm extension on the mound from 3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 71-73 mph. Has some downward spin on 59-60 mph curve. Shows two types of changeup: one straight at 65-66 mph and some feel on split at 68 mph.
Jay Eilerman, OF, Minster HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 160-pound outfielder. Medium body shows some physical strength projection. Has collegiate raw skills. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash with 79 mph arm strength that showed some carry. Upright hitting stance. Upper body type hitter with hands triggering from shoulder. Has one hand swing finish. Needs to improve lower body torque.
John Janusik, 3B, Princeton HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 185-pound third base type with good hands and range. Has accurate 74 mph arm strength. Will need to improve footwork and 8.30 60-yard time. Has slight open hit stance. Triggers hands from chest with some upper cut in swing path. Shows good hand finish. Will need more consistency with good hand load.
Joshua Wyatt, OF, Springboro HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 165-pound athletic player with raw skills. Ran 7.09 60-yard dash with 79 mph arm strength from outfield with some carry. Has wide base hitting stance. Triggers hands from shoulder with good hand swing finish. Needs to improve lower half torque and would like more top hand in swing to enhance power.
Korbin Nickoson, C, Hamilton Ross HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-9, 170-pound catching prospect. Smallish type player with receiving skills. Will need to improve overall strength to enhance future durability. Good glove to hand exchange with 2.0/2.07 split times. Needs to improve set-up. Ran 7.79 60 yard time with 70 mph arm strength. Hits from open stancehas some upper cut from chest level hand trigger. Needs to improve backside load consistency and lower body tourque. Has good hand swing finish.
Leke Ademuyewo, OF, Princeton HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 212-pound outfielder. Has some raw skills ability with 7.32 60-yard dash time and 79 mph arm strength with some carry. Has low hand trigger in swing with one hand finish. Shows good lower half torque.
Mazen Kanouh, 1B/RHP, Defiance HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-2, 215-pound prospect. Strong body player with good hands defensively and 75 mph arm strength. Needs to improve footwork around bag. Ran 7.85 60-yard dash. Has closed wide base hit stance. Has long flat bat path from chest level trigger with one hand finish. Has no wind-up on the hill with over the top arm slot. Spots 77-79 mph fastball well with some downward spin on 63 mph curveball. Change was basically straight at 67-68 mph.
Nick Ewalt, LHP, West Jefferson HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-7, 160-pound southpaw. Smallish lefty that shows good balance in delivery and moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Spots fastball at 74-76 mph. Has some downward spin on curve (62-64 mph) and straight change (67-68 mph). Also showed cutter with some bite (66-68 mph).
Nick Meece, C/OF, Moeller HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 170-pound versatile player that shows good baseball sense. Intriguing prospect that gets overshadowed in the loaded Moeller program. Ran 7.3 60-yard dash. Showed 79 mph arm strength with carry from the outfield. Good lateral movement behind the plate. Receives well with 2.04/2.07 split time (71 mph arm strength). Hits with squared stance. Triggers hands from chest level with some upper cut bat path. Makes contact with good hand finish. Needs to improve lower body torque.
Pete Whitmer, 1B, Jonathan Alder HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 215-pound first baseman. Starts with open crouch hitting base. Triggers hands from his chest with flat bat plane path and some upper cut. Has pop potential. Inner half hitter. Shows good swing finish and lower body torque. Fields position well around the bag with 71 mph arm strength. Ran 8.11 60-yard dash.
Zachary Kimura, OF, Walnut Hills HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 180-pound outfielder. Shows some good baseball sense. Ran 7.31 60-yard dash with 75 mph arm strength that showed some carry. Hits with wide base. Has low hand swing trigger with definite upper cut path into zone. Swing shows good hand finish and lower body torque.
Xavier Conner, OF, Northland HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 185-pound outfielder. Good athletic presence showing body strength. Bat will be key on next level. Hits from a wide base. Has low hand swing trigger. Shows bat speed into zone with good hand finish and lower body torque. Could enhance abilities with more top hand in his swing. Ran 6.96 60-yard dash.
