Kalida at Miller City - 4/2/18
Owen Recker RHP / 1B / Kalida, OH / 2019Report: The Kent State commit looked very comfortable in his first start of the spring. Despite a shaky 1st inning, where he threw 27 pitches, Recker was able to battle out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout looking. After that, he settled in and took care of business all night long. The fastball was sitting 86-88 in his six innings of work, and topped out at 91 mph in the 1st inning. His arm strength certainly didn't decline throughout the game as he reached 90 mph in the 6th and final inning of work, on pitch 103. Aside from his velocity, Recker displayed a great breaking ball that was 70-72 and was able to throw for strikes when needed. The Junior right-hander showed great poise on the mound in pressure situations and has a smooth, repeatable delivery. |
