Cincinnati 15U Tournament: Scouting Notes

Midwest Prospects

Nick Nelson, RHP, Mason County, 2017
Scouting Report: The right-hander twirled six innings of 2-run baseball against the Indiana Mustangs. He was impressive, spotting his 83-86 mph fastball on all quadrants. He has clean arm action with an explosive release. The ball flies out of hand and is hard to pick up. He features a good curveball with 11-5 tilt. He has good feel for the pitch. He lacks a change up at the current moment. Threw a couple good ones, but he got around the changeup most of the afternoon. When he gets on top of the pitch, it is a good out pitch and great pitch to add to his mix at 68-73 mph.

Indiana Mustangs

Luke Albright, RHP, Fishers, 2018
Scouting Report: Standing 6-foot-4 inches, the right-hander has a smooth easy delivery. He has the ideal build for a starting pitcher. He showcases a fastball in the mid-to-high 70’s and tossed a few 80-82 mph heaters. He has natural 2-seam action with heavy sink on the inner half. He is not scared to throw ball on inner half. He falls off the right side from time-to-time which effect his release point and control. His curveball showed nice depth and tumble. He lacks a third pitch at the moment but fastball/curveball mix proved to be enough as he tossed seven innings of one-run ball against the Midwest Prospects Elite.
