With the fall signing period only a month away, it is becoming crunch time for uncommitted seniors.
At 6-foot-4, 190-pounds, right-handed pitcher Blake Swanger is one of the top uncommitted prospects left in the top 100 rankings.
The No. 89 ranked prospect is down to a handful of schools.
“I have visited Thiel, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, and Mount Union,” he explained.
Swanger added, “I have visits planned to Translyvania and Heidelberg as well.”
While most of his interest is coming from DII, DIII and NAIA programs, he also received calls from Ohio University and Cincinnati. Both have expressed interest in seeing him throw again this fall.
The big righty continued, “I am talking with the coaches regularly from Denison, Mt Union, and Otterbein. The head coaches and coaching staffs that I have met were great and I really liked the pitching coaches.”
While Swanger doesn’t have one clear leader, a few schools, Denison, Mount Union, and Otterbein, are rising to the top of his list.
But, before he makes a decision, Swanger wants to explore all of his options.
He concluded, “I want to make all of my visits and look at the combination of baseball and academics to decide what will be the best fit. “
Heading into his senior year, Swanger held a 3.18 GPA with a 24 on his ACT.
