CONWAY, S.C. - Athletes are told time and again about the idea of no regrets. When it comes to Lee Sponseller, regrets these days come from Division I colleges that overlooked a player that is now an All-American candidate.
The Coastal Carolina graduate senior was recently named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after hitting a pair of grand slams, include a walk-off against 10th-ranked Clemson.. “It was an unbelievable feeling,” Sponseller said of the ninth-inning blast that capped a 9-5 victory in front of a stadium-record crowd of 4,130. “I’m just happy to get a win for the team. That game was huge for us moving forward.” |
