Logan Jones RHP / Glenoak, OH / 2020Rankings StateRank: 44 / POS: 17
CANTON - With senior year fast approaching, Logan Jones admitted to some stress without a college commitment “I was starting to get a little worried,” admitted Jones, whose only offer had come a year earlier from Pennsylvania. “I really liked Penn but it was expensive, so I didn’t accept. When I wasn’t getting looks I was a little nervous. Luckily, Ohio came along. “I went to a camp and they offered right after I was done pitching,” the GlenOak senior continued. “I did pretty well that game. They really like me as a pitcher and I really like the coaching staff. “(Head) Coach (Rob) Smith liked my pitching mentality. I kept my composure well. They also like my breaking ball and my build.” The 6-4 205-pound right-handed pitcher accepted OU’s offer the following Wednesday. “It was exciting to pull into the coach’s office at the field,” the 44th-rated 2020 player in Ohio reflected. “My mom and aunt were there. It’s close to home so my family will be able to see me. I’m excited about that.” Jones had talked with Ball State, the College of Charleston in South Carolina and a little with Ohio State before the Mid-American Conference Bobcats became the frontrunner in his recruitment. “I played on Team Ohio this summer with coaches Brian Chad and Chris Check,” Jones noted. “It was my first year of big travel ball. We went to Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Alabama. I’ve also been to two or three PBR events. All that was extremely beneficial.” Jones was able to display recent improvement made on the mound. |
