PBR: Why did you choose Lake Erie?
Wendel: I chose Lake Erie because it fit me well both academically and athletically. It has a beautiful campus with a family atmosphere and I really liked Coach Castro's vision for the program.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Wendel: Alderson Broaddus and Northwood
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Wendel: Coach Castro saw me at the Top Prospect Games at Prasco Park in June. Coach Castro came to several of my games and I visited Lake Erie which helped me to get to know Coach Castro better.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Wendel: To compete for a job out of the bullpen or as a starting pitcher.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Storm baseball?
Wendel: My biggest strength is that I'm competitive, so I think that every time I pitch, I'll give the team the best chance to win.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Wendel: 17U Brownlee Lookouts with Coach Ben Simon. Pitching at the Music City Classic tournament in Nashville.
PBR: What were your stats for last spring season?
Wendel: 2-4 with 2.58 ERA.41K’s in 41 innings. BA: .357 OB %: .544 SB:27
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Wendel: Jacob Youngpeter from Delphos St John HS.
