Colton Bauer, RHP/INF, Grove City HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose University of Charleston?

Bauer: I felt like I fit in from the beginning. The coaching staff is committed and i feel like they are going to help me work to get better. Coach Wright also showed me great patience but made it clear they wanted me and that was important.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Bauer: Tri C, NKU, Toledo and Sinclair

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff

Bauer:  Coach Haggerty first saw me at Shawnee State small showcase. From there they kept checking in on me for a year. I went to their camp and that was what they needed.

PBR: You are being recruited as a two-way player.  How important was it for you to get the opportunity to both pitch and play the field at the collegiate level?

Bauer: Very important. Also the possibility of playing early was a factor.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Bauer: Many people including all my coaches and friends. But Mom and Dad come to mind first. My Dad coached me for a long time and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have had the chance.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Bauer: Team Rpm Midwest Prospects. We just won the Triple Crown in Virginia and I'm still riding high!

PBR: What were your stats last season?

Bauer: .407 BA. 14 sb

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced?

Bauer: Kaleb Meeks who i play summer ball with now can bring it. Fierce competitor.
