Jack Hollinshead, C/1B, Mayfield HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Wittenberg?

Hollinshead: I chose Wittenberg for a few reasons. The campus was awesome and I knew it right as I saw it. The school has everything I'm looking for academically and I couldn't be more excited to go play for an amazing coaching staff, headed by Coach McGee

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Hollinshead: I was also considering: St. Bonaventure, Eastern Michigan, Kenyon, and Capital.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Hollinshead: Coach McGee first saw me when he was the head coach at Lake Erie College at a summer game with Release Baseball. From there he came to a few practices and we've talked ever since. As we've stayed in touch conversations really grew and when he took the job at Wittenberg it really sparked a lot of interest in me.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Hollinshead: My role going into freshman year is going to be an impact-player. Coach thinks I can step in and play right away at both catcher and first base if I prove myself.

PBR: Wittenberg just hired Coach McGee this past summer, how does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Hollinshead: To be a part of Coach McGee's first class as his first recruit is something special. With what Coach is putting together here at Witt is awesome and to be that first-guy is really exciting.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Hollinshead: Without a doubt my family... My parents always push me to want more and my grandma who never missed a game are real big impacts on my career and what I strive to be.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Hollinshead: Last summer I played for Release Baseball and my favorite memory was the Perfect Game tournament in Atlanta. We finished 9th out of 284 teams. This summer I will be playing for Coach Eric Cormell and the Midwest Ironbirds.

PBR: What were your stats last season?

Hollinshead: This summer we went 45-10, I hit .356 with a .483 OBP. I had 49 hits, 32 RBI's, and 34 walks.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Ohio?

Hollinshead: The toughest pitcher I have faced is Quinn Lavelle.
