Josh Nixon, RHP, Minster HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Dayton?

Nixon: The campus is really nice, they have great academics, and my mom and high school coach went there.  Most of all, they gave me the opportunity to play D1 ball that I wasn't given elsewhere.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Nixon: Hillsdale and Edison State, also UC but for academic reasons.

PBR: Where did the Dayton coaches first see you?

Nixon: UD's Junior Day in 2015, and again at their fall camp in 2015, after which I was offered a roster spot.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Nixon: I've played for Dayton Classics, this past summer I played for the Sidney Sluggers.  Favorite memory was Slugger teammate Aaron Harlamert showing off his pop time and throwing out a runner at third.  The ball was there before the runner was 3/4 of the way to the bag and our third basemen caught the ball and had to go tag him like 10 feet into the baseline because he stopped running and took the out.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 program?

Nixon: Couldn't ask for anything else.  Always been my dream to play D1 ball and I am grateful all my cards played out right so I could go to Dayton.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season?

Nixon: 6 starts, 35 innings, 2-2 W-L, 2.40 ERA, 47 K

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Nixon: Nathan Wilker from St. Marys...he was a teammate on my Sluggers team and when we faced off in high school he had my number everytime.  I don't think I've gotten him out once in like 6 plate appearances.
