Inside the Recruitment: '16 RHP Chandler Cannon commits to Dayton
August 10, 2015
Chandler Cannon, RHP, Oregon Clay, Class of 2016
PBR: Why did you choose Dayton?
Cannon: I chose Dayton because of the coaches. Every time I talked to a coach it felt like they wanted me to be a part of their program more than anything. It played a big factor. Also, my brother was paralyzed in a Dayton hockey game so we are very familiar with the area.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Cannon: Central Michigan, Ohio, and Liberty.
PBR: Where did the Dayton coaches first see you?
Cannon: TPG, and then they came to every one of my outings the rest of the year.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.
Cannon: I play for Ohio Elite Valentine, and the most memorable experience was coming in with bases loaded at Grand Park no outs, and striking out 3 consecutive GRB Rays batters to hold on to the win.
PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 program?
Cannon: It's a dream come true. Knowing I've made my family proud and knowing I have my guardian angels watching over me the whole way.
PBR: What were your stats last spring season?
Cannon: 42 IP, 6-1 , 83 Ks, 1.97 ERA, .178 OBA
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Cannon: TJ Lake hands down. He hit anything I threw to him.
