Inside the Recruitment: '15 RHP Joe Caserio commits to Ashland
November 5, 2014
PBR: Why did you choose Ashland?
Caserio: I chose Ashland University for many reasons.. First obviously, for an education. They have my specific major I intend to study. Secondly, for baseball. They consistently make a run every year and I want to be part of that legacy.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Caserio: Other than Ashland, I was considering Ohio Wesleyan University, West Virginia University, and Bowling Green.
PBR: Where did the Coach Schaly first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Caserio: Coach Schaly and I first met when I participated in the PBR Fall Prospect Games at Ashland University. After a baseball visit he told me everything I needed to hear to make my decision.
PBR: Ashland is making several new upgrades to their baseball facility. How much of a role did that play in your decision?
Caserio: Upgrading the facilities was not a big concern of mine, but it will definitely be a plus training in new facilities.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?
Caserio: We are returning several starters for this season. I've been riding the guys in the weight room daily and they have been getting after it. Obviously our goal is a state title, but ultimately we have to just do what our coaches ask of us and give 150% every single day.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?
Caserio: I currently play for the Brownlee Lookouts and my most memorable experience from this past summer was winning the NABF Nationals and being named to the All-Tournament Team.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Caserio: Chandler Murray would have to be one of the tougher pitchers i've played against. That was at the Ashland PBR Event.
