PBR: Why did you choose Ashland?

Varda: I chose Ashland because it felt like a great fit for me academically and personally. From when I first stepped on the field I knew Ashland was where I wanted to play college baseball. 

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Varda: I had several interests but Ashland was the school I wanted to be at.

PBR: Where did the Coach Schaly first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Varda: I first met coach Schaly at the fall prospect camp Ashland hosted. I briefly got to talk to him there, until my visit where I got to sit and talk to him and learn more about the program.

PBR: Ashland is making several new upgrades to their baseball facility. How much of a role did that play in your decision?

Varda: That did not play a major rule in my decision. The baseball facilities are already great, I really like the program and the way coach runs things. It really seemed to fit the way I play. 

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Varda: My goals individually is to be all OCC and for my team to win a state championship. We made it close last year and have 7 returning starters. 

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Varda: I play for the Midwest Marlins, but my most memorable experience was during school ball in the district championship game when I had the game tying hit and scored the winning run. I was named player of the game and we won as a huge underdog to Thomas Worthington. 

PBR: What were your stats for last sprin?

Varda: .385 avg .500 OBP and was honorable mention OCC

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Varda: I couldn't narrow this down to one but my top three would be Jacob Niggemeyer, Josh Shapiro, and Corey Stanley
