Inside the Recruitment: '15 Dominic Mittiga commits to John Carroll

PBR: Why did you choose John Carroll?

Mittiga: I chose it because I've had several family members who have graduated from there, it is strong academically, and they have a competitive baseball program.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Mittiga: Kent State and Walsh University

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Mittiga: They saw me during summer ball, and I developed a relationship with their coaching staff through Coach Kaczmar(WJHS) 

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Mittiga: To contribute to the team's success on and off the field however I can. 

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Mittiga: I played for the Midwest Pelicans for several years and we played a competitive schedule every year. With the disbanding of the Pelicans, I will play for Coach Debord for the Ohio Longhorns this upcoming summer.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Mittiga: My brother, Mark. We have competed since we were little and he always does what he can to help me improve.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Mittiga: .538 2 HR 8 2B 24 RBI

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Mittiga: Ryan Feltner, Ty Shoaff, Shane Downey...luckily all 3 are on my high school team.
