Tanner Corder, C, John Glenn HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Thomas More?

Corder: I chose Thomas More because they are a good school that have my intended major and a very good baseball team.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Corder: I always had D1 dreams like every other baseball player but I really wasn't considering any other colleges.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Corder: The coaches first saw me compete at the Cinci Flames tournament in southwestern Ohio. I feel as though I developed a very well and strong relationship with the coaches once I had the chance to talk to them, but before that, I had never really talked to them.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Corder: The coaches expect me, as a catcher, to be a leader on the team because I am the only one on the field that can see everything that is going on and call the right play according to the situation at hand

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Corder: The biggest impact on me as a baseball player would most likely be my late grandfather and my father. Even though he lived far away, I knew my grandfather would make it to as many games as he could and was always my biggest fan and I know that even though he is not here in the flesh, he is still with me for every pitch. My father was and still is my role model on the field. He has coached me since I started playing and with him passing his knowledge of the game on to me, I would not be the baseball player I am today.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Corder: I play for the Pickerington Predators and my most memorable experience would be at the games that the coaches from Thomas More saw me play where I was 4 for 4 with 3 hat tricks in 3 consecutive innings in both games.

PBR: What were your stats last season?

Corder: I batted .396 and threw out 80% of the people that stole.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced?

Corder: I can't name the toughest pitcher because I've seen a lot of them and each one had their own specialty.
