Initial Class of 2024 Player Rankings (September) 

In 2020 we have had a year unlike any other ... No Spring HS season, uncertainty all summer with tournaments and showcases and the same can still be said this fall. But that hasn't stopped us from searching far and wide throughout the state to find the best prospects we can, to help them get to college and to help colleges find prospects that fit their culture.

Despite the tumultuous summer, many names came off the board to some of the top programs around the nation, many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene, and many prospects improved their game.

With many names be noted and talked about by some of the most prestigious programs in the nation. Below we will take a look at The Top 5 and "On The Cusp Prospects".

The Initial Top 5

Drew Graham LHP / 1B / Avon Lake, OH / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 Report: It took about three pitches in a bullpen this summer to realize you were looking at something special when watching LHP Drew Graham. The physical traits are obvious...an athletic mover with a very clean arm that can run it up to 85 mph and shows every physical trait of more velocity to come, a wipeout breaking ball and well above average changeup. Aside from the stuff the pitchability is also well beyond his years for a prospect who recently turned 14. Pitching for Team Ohio at the Future Games he showed the ability to mix in secondaries in hitters counts but was not shy about showing the fastball either. Since that standout performance Drew has received several offers and is hearing from some of the premier programs in the country.

Noah LaFine RHP / OF / Archbishop Hoban, OH / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 Report: Noah went from unknown to a top tier prospect in a matter of weeks. It started with a twitter video with him working with Coach Grady which earned him a Top Prospect Games invite and the rest is history. He showed up at Top Prospect Games and it was hard to believe you were watching a 2024. Up to 88 mph with a real splitter and feel for spin. He duplicated that performance on the biggest stage possible for Team Ohio and is now receiving national interest.

Jake Hanley OF / RHP / Mason, OH / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 Report: If you’re talking upside this is your guy. A 6-foot-4 duel prospect who put on an absolute show in BP at the Future Games. Swings it from the left side and can generate exit velocities in the upper 90s. The type of bat you could watch hit all day, and to give you an idea of the physicality he was putting balls out he missed. He had the announcers at the future games going wild. The swing has shown up in game as well where he more than held his own against the country’s top arms. Also will hop on the mound and run it up to 84 mph with an obvious velocity ceiling. Parker Corbin SS / C / Cincinnati Country Day, OH / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 1 Report: One of my favorite players I have ever coached is a guy named Matty Morrow who played multiple years professionally. Parker Corbin is a carbon copy with even more athleticism and the same obvious confidence in his ability. You could make a real argument that he is the best in game position player in the state as of now in the 2024 class. A left-handed hitting prospect who knows who he is at the plate and is an on base machine. Knows the zone, can work counts and when he pulls the trigger he very rarely misses the barrel. Ideal top of the lineup skill set. Defensively he fits up the middle of the infield where he covers a ton of ground and has advanced ball skills. Although he profiles as a middle guy now we’ve seen it behind the dish and if he chooses to go that route he could be special back there as well.

Grant Wilson SS / RHP / St. Edward, OH / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 5 / POS: 2 Report: Like the other four on this list Grant has qualities that are quite simply just different from your typical 2024. What separates Grant as a position guy is his ability to swing the bat. Scouts are going to be drawn to his combination of physicality, raw bat speed, and ability to find the barrel. Also he’s very refined movement wise which you don’t typically see from such a young prospect. At the Future 50 he was the loudest bat there, squaring up the best pitching the state has to offer in that class routinely and similar to Hanley his BP is ridiculous. Time will tell where he ends up defensively but there’s athleticism and arm strength there to work with.

On The Cusp

This 2024 class is loaded and although we could talk about 20 guys we will give you a sneak peek of a few you can expect to see on this list shortly.

Keegan Holmstrom 1B / LHP / Grove City, OH / 2024 Report: Keegan very well may be the best defensive first baseman in the state right now regardless of class. This is a very lofty comparison and I’m not sure we will ever see another Evan White... but if there’s a guy out of Columbus that can be in the same stratosphere as Evan it’s Keegan Holmstrom. To give you an idea of the athleticism he’s a high scoring point guard who would be destined to play shortstop if he wasn’t left-handed and can also play the outfield at a high level. At the plate he swings it from the left side where we saw him take a ball 340 plus last year at the junior future games. He’s only going to get better as he adds physicality. This is a stock college coaches want to buy!

Sawyer Solitaria 3B / RHP / St. Ignatius, OH / 2024 Report: A power arm/power bat who should receive early college attention. Physically imposing at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds and has the makings of a legitimate two-way prospect. On the mound he runs it up to 85 mph with a hammer of a breaking ball. At the plate he takes a ridiculous BP that will register exit velocities in the mid 90s consistently. Sawyer is also one of those guys who hasn’t come near to his physical ceiling yet. Simply put… expect him to throw really hard and hit balls very far over the next few years.

Keegan Phillips LHP / OF / Greeneview, OH / 2024 Report: Left-handed pitching is the most one of if not the most coveted type of prospect regardless of level of play and Keegan shows signs of being one of the best in the state. Very polished both delivery and pitchability wise at such a young age. Up to 82 mph and that number will only climb over the next few years. Although the velocity is advanced arguably the most impressive thing about the young southpaw is his ability to spin the breaking ball at a high level. He’s going to be a good one.
