Exposure Brings Roebuck And Kent State Together
Benny Roebuck RHP / Bryan, OH / 2020Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 11
BRYAN - Benny Roebuck did all he could to get his name out there. The Bryan junior played on two travel teams in the summer. The right-handed pitcher also participated in three PBR events, the Top Prospect Games, the ACME/Legion Showcase and the Future Games. The exposure along with improvement on the mound has landed the 18th-rated player in Ohio’s 2020 class with Kent State. The recent commitment has brought some relief to the hard-throwing 6-0 180-pounder. “This means a lot,” Roebuck said of committing to Kent. “I did a lot of events that got me out there and now that I’m finally committed I can rest for the next year, work on getting stronger and play baseball more rather than worry about getting noticed. “It was fun, but also it’s a relief now. Whenever I pitched someone was there watching. But now that I’m committed I don’t have to worry about who’s watching and how good I’m doing. Now I can work on getting better and getting stronger.” Interest began picking up on Roebuck, a 3.9 student, during the summer. “(Kent State pitching) Coach (Mike) Birkbeck came to our ACME quarterfinals when I pitched and called me the next Tuesday,” Roebuck said. “We started talking more and more. I know coach (Tom) Held (from Defiance) had told them about me and I guess they liked what they saw.” Other colleges did as well. |
