FLOWER MOUND VS. MARCUS - 05.20.17

By Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

Reed Osborn, RHP, Marcus HS, 2017
Howard JC recruit. 6-foot-4, 185-pound, athletic, projectable frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a long, clean arm stroke. His fastball was 85-88 mph early in the game, eventually settling into the 84-86 mph range. His curveball had gradual break and 11-5 shape at 68-71 mph. Osborn also played football at Marcus, look for big things to come for this all around athlete at the next level.

Eric Jones, RHP, Flower Mound HS, 2017
Weatherford JC recruit. 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame. Normally the closer for Flower Mound, Jones got the start on Saturday in a winner-take-all rubber match game. The right-hander works from a low-¾ slot with a quick, compact arm stroke. His fastball has tailing arm side run and life at 84-87 mph. His slider is a plus pitch at 73-76 mph with sharp, lateral bite. Jones is extremely difficult to hit, especially for right-handed hitters as the fastball runs in and the slider darts away. On Thursday night, in a save opportunity, Jones closed the door on Marcus, bumping 87-89 mph on his fastball.

PROSPER VS. WAKELAND - 05.19.17

By Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

Bryan Meissner, RHP, Wakeland HS, 2018
6-foot-2, 160-pound frame. Meissner entered the game in relief, earning the win by throwing 2 shutout innings. The right-hander works from a low-¾ to side arm slot with whip-like arm actions. His fastball has great movement and he located it to both sides of the plate from 81-83 mph, topping out once at 84 mph. His ball will cut across the plate at times, running away from right-handed hitters. Other times it flashes arm side run.

J.T. Thompson, SS, Wakeland HS, 2018
Weatherford JC recruit. The senior shortstop did it all on Friday afternoon. On defense, he made two highlight-reel plays in the same inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Thompson ranged up the middle on a chopper and made a glove flip to get the force out at second base. The next batter hit a pop up in foul territory and he made a sliding grad with a teammate jumping over him at the same time. Offensively, the right-handed hitter got the game winning hit in the bottom of the sixth when he laced a line drive up the middle. He also hammered a fly ball directly into the wind in left field and flew out to centerfield.

FLOWER MOUND VS. MARCUS - 05.18.17

By Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

Caleb Burgess, RHP, Flower Mound HS, 2018
6-foot-5, 180-pound, projectable, long-limbed, high-waisted frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a medium arm circle and clean arm stroke. His fastball was 88-90 mph early, touching 91 mph once. The fastball has steep downward angle at times and exploded on hitters. The sophomore commanded the pitch well on Thursday night. His curveball was 71-74 mph with 11-5 shape and a slight hump out of the hand, look for this pitch to improve as he continues to develop. Burgess went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, three punchouts and one walk.

Jimmy Glowenke, SS, Marcus HS, 2017
Dallas Baptist recruit. Glowenke continued to impress offensively on thursday night, and we got a nice preview of what he will look like next year on DBU’s field. The right-handed hitter was 2-for-3 with a double off the left-centerfield wall. In his last at-bat, he took a curveball off his shoe-tops and laced it for an RBI single in the right-center gap.

SOUTHLAKE CARROLL VS. ALLEN - 05.18.17

By Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

Cutter Sippel, LHP, Carroll HS, 2019
6-foot-1, 175-pound, projectable, still developing frame. The left-hander works from a ¾ slot with a slight cross-fire delivery and a clean arm swing. His fastball continues to show arm side run with his fastball velocity ranging from 84-86 mph, topping out at 87. Sippel continues to show his ability to spin a breaking ball with good feel, keeping his hand on top of his slider at 73-75 mph with 1-7 shape.

Nicco Cole, RHP, Carroll HS, 2018
6-foot-2, 175-pound frame. The right-hander works from a side arm slot with a long arm swing and a repeatable delivery. His fastball has arm side run at 83-86 mph. His best off speed pitch is a changeup that he can throw in any count at 73-75 mph. Cole maintains arm speed on the changeup and flashes swing and miss depth. He only threw a handful of sliders ranging from 70-76 mph. The pitch sits up out of his hand and has lateral movement.

Adam Stephenson, OF, Carroll HS, 2018
Wichita State recruit. 6-foot-1, 170-pound, wiry, fast-twitch frame. Stephenson has electric speed, posting sub-4-second times to first base on multiple occasions this spring. The left handed hitter roped a triple in his first at-bat to the left-center gap, showing he has the ability to drive the ball with some authority, finishing the barrel with his top hand. He ran a 4.09 on a full swing to first base, and a 3.75 on a base hit drag bunt.

Ronnie Taylor, RHP, Allen HS, 2017
Wichita State recruit. 6-foot-3, 220-pound, muscular frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a clean, quick arm stroke. He only threw 1.1 innings, but his fastball ranged from 92-94 mph with life. His curveball was 74-76 mph with 11-5 shape and average depth.
