Tristan Sipple LHP / 1B / Madison, OH / 2020

MADISON - Now in the middle of the high school basketball season, Tristan Sipple has not yet had a college visit.

But that does not mean the Madison junior is off the radar of college baseball coaches. Toledo, Miami, George Washington, Cincinnati, North Alabama, Xavier and Eastern Kentucky have talked or showed some kind of interest in the third-ranked 2020 left-handed pitcher in Ohio.

“I haven’t talked in depth with them, most just want me to come to a prospect camp to show them more,” the 5-11 170-pounder said. “Most saw me at Grand Park in the Future Games.”

After hitting 89 on the radar gun a week prior to the PBR event, Sipple’s velo was down at the Future Games. It resulted in shutting down the arm and hitting the gym.

“I’m lifting, doing Driveline, bands and weighted balls,” Sipple said. “I tried to get it all in before basketball.”

PBR Ohio Scouting Director Jordan Chiero sees a lot of promise in Sipple.

“Tristan has flashed impressive arm talent,” Chiero said. “We saw him up to 89 at Wright State, sitting 86-88, so you know the stuff is there. He just needs to show he can be that or even near that consistently and he will be off the board in a hurry.”

The desire to improve is part of his nature.

“It’s hurt me at time because sometimes I’m too into it, but I wouldn’t have gotten this far if I wasn’t like this,” Sipple said of being very competitive. “It makes me want to get into the gym. I’m always wanting to get better. In basketball there are guys better than me but I still find ways to scrap.”

In baseball, being one of the smaller kids growing up did not stop Sipple from succeeding on the mound.
