With the 2019 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state. Starting in January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2019 Spring Team Preview: Chaminade julienne eagles

Team Name: Chaminade Julienne Eagles

2018 Record: 24-5
Conference Record: Greater Catholic League, 12-2 (1st)
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/4

2019 Team Strengths:

  • Speed
  • Starting Pitching
  • Defense

Coach Outlook: "I think We will be a strong team again this year.  We should be in contention to win our league again, and hopefully make a strong tournament run again."

PBR Outlook: A year after winning the Division II state championship, the Eagles proved they belong toward the top of the rankings, if not at the top. With the amount of talent returning for Chaminade Julienne, look for them to be toward the top of the team rankings to start the year, with a legit chance of making a long, long run again in 2019.

  • Nick Wissman P/SS, Senior, 6’1/170. R/R. 4 year starter 7-1, 1.23 ERA, 61 K’s, 14 BB.  .301 AVG, 2 2B, 23 RBI, 16 SB.
  • Andrew Simones CF/P  Senior 5’11/185. R/R. 3 year starter. .360 AVG 30 runs, 17 RBI, 25 SB. 2-0 1.98 ERA.  
  • Sebastian Gongora (Video) P/1B Junior, 6’4/175. L/L. 2 year starter. 6-1, 1.47 ERA. 35 K, 12 BB, 4 shutouts.  .295 AVG, 4 2B, 1 HR, 20 RBI’s, 9 SB. 
  • AJ Solomon 2B/SS Sophomore, 5’8/150, L/R. 2 year starter. .292 AVG, 4 2B, 1 3B, 14 RBI’s, 24 SB, .505 OBP, 27 BB.
