Today, we release the list of top pitchers from our February 5th Unsigned Senior Showcase in Columbus. Several talented arms from across the state stood out and look to fulfill the needs of college programs. Videos will be available early next week. Later this afternoon, we will release the top overall prospects from the event.



1. Anderson Hasting, 3B/RHP, Jonathan Alder
Solid, athletic prospect that registered a 5.19 40-yard dash. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher uses quick, long arm action through a ¾ arm slot. He shows excellent command of an 83-87 mph fastball with late run. His curve sits at 69-73 mph and late, 10/4 breaking action. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 66-67 mph with fading action. He is a legitimate two-way prospect. In the field, he shows soft hands and above average footwork. He uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot to reach a top velocity of 81 mph across the infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a fluid rhythm to his swing. He uses an explosive lower half with bat speed.

   

2. Zach Williams, RHP, Moeller
The 6’3, 185-pound right-handed pitcher has a tall, projectable frame. He uses quick arm speed through an over the top arm slot. He shows command of a heavy 84-86 mph 4-seam fastball. He also displayed a 2-seam fastball with sink that sits at 85-86 mph. His curveball shows late 11/5 break and sits at 69-70 mph. He can continue to develop the effectiveness of this pitch. His changeup is his best out pitch. He throws it near fastball arm speed and it fluctuates between 74-78 mph. The pitch shows effective arm side sink.

 

3. Zak Hood, RHP, Dublin Coffman
The 5’11, 175-pound right-handed pitcher has a strong, lean build. He uses quick arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. He throws a heavy fastball with arm side run that sits at 85-86 mph (we have seen him up to 88 several times over the past 6 months). His curveball shows late, sharp 12/6 break and sits at 70-71 mph. Meanwhile, his changeup shows sink and sits at 72-74 mph.

 

4. John Hakemoller, RHP, Moeller
The 5’11, 205-pound right-handed pitcher has a thick, solid build. He uses a smooth and easy delivery along with quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. He shows command of a heavy fastball that has effective ASR and sits at 85-86 mph. His curveball is his best out pitch. It stays between 73-75 mph and has sharp, late 11/5 break. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 74-76 mph, but lacks consistency in the zone.

5. Nick Muse, RHP, Tippecanoe
The 6’3, 210-pound right-handed pitcher has a big, solid frame. He uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. He produces a heavy fastball with the occasional ASR that sits between 81-83 mph. His curveball has late 11/5 break and fluctuates between 66-70 mph. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed. It sits between 74-76 while showing some sink down in the zone. Lastly, he throws a split-finger fastball that stays right around 68-69 mph while showing occasional diving action down in the zone.



6. Taylor Cooper, Defiance
Small, athletic prospect that registered a 5.18 40-yard dash. On the mound, the left-hander shows quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball sits 82-84 mph and shows natural cut. His curveball sits 64-65 mph with 1/7 breaking action. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 70-71 mph. In the outfield, he shows fluid, athletic actions. He reached a top velocity of 82 mph. At the plate, the left-handed hitter uses rotational mechanics. He uses a balance setup with quick bat speed to hit consistent line drives to all fields. He will increase his power by improving the use of his lower half. 

7. Jordan Hitt, RHP, Southeastern
The 6’0, 200-pound right-handed pitcher has a thick, solid frame. He uses long arm action with quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. He throws a heavy 80-83 mph fastball. He shows command of both his curveball and his changeup. His curveball has late 11/5 breaking action and stays around 70-71 mph. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and stays between 69-72 mph while showing effective fade down in the zone.

 

8. Wes Fauver, MIF/RHP, Jonathan Alder
Short, solid prospect that registered a 5.44 40-yard dash. On the mound, the right-handed uses a max effort delivery. He shows quick arm action as he generates an 80-83 mph fastball with arm side run. His curveball sits at 65-66 mph and shows late, 11/5 breaking action. He shows command of a 64-67 mph fading changeup, but has a tendency to slow down his arm action. In the field, he shows excellent actions with fluid footwork, soft hands, and a quick exchange. He uses short, quick arm action through a ¾ arm slot to reach a top velocity of 81 mph across the infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter is solid contact hitter that generates hard line drives. He shows opposite field tendencies in his swing. There is more power to come as he better incorporates his lower half.

 

9. Wes Lindenmuth, MIF/RHP, Thomas Worthington
Athletic prospect that registered a 5.1 40-yard dash on a slow, turf track. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher uses a slow, smooth rhythm. He shows quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. His 80-82 mph fastball has arm side run. His curveball sits at 69 mph and has late 11/5 break. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 71-72 mph with arm side fade. In the field, he shows fluid footwork with above average glove work. He demonstrates a quick exchange and long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. He reached a top velocity of 75 mph across the infield. At the plate, he uses a closed stance with a short stride. He uses quick bat speed and a short path to the ball to generate hard, consistent line drives. 

 

10. Jake Wagner, MIF/RHP, Lakota West
Lankey, athletic prospect that registered a 5.37 40-yard dash. On the mound, he uses a slow rhythm. He displays long, loose arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball registers at 80-83 mph. His curveball shows sharp 12/6 break and registers at 69-72 mph. He shows great command of a changeup that is thrown near fastball arm speed and shows excellent sink while registering at 75-77 mph. In the field, he showed good actions with fluid footwork, soft hands, and a quick transfer. He uses short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot to reach a top velocity of 78 mph across the infield. At the plate, he is a line drive type hitter that uses a short stride and quick bat speed.

 

The Best of the Rest

Aaron Heber, 1B/RHP, Delaware Hayes
Big, thick two-way prospect that registered a 5.64 40-yard dash. On the mound, he is an arm strength guy at this point. He shows average arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. He sat at 80 mph and topped at 81 mph with his fastball, which has some run. He needs to improve the command of his 66-67 mph curveball and 72 mph changeup. In the field, he shows average footwork around the bag at first base. He reached a top velocity of 76 mph across the infield. At the plate, he uses rotational mechanics with quick bat speed and power potential. At times, his front side leaks causing some mechanical issues, but he shows a potential middle of the order bat at a small school.

Aaron Jackson, LHP, Crestwood
The 6’3, 172-pound left-handed pitcher has a tall, lanky frame. He uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball sits between 77-80 mph. His curveball shows gradual 1/7 break and sits between 63-65 mph. Finally, he has a tendency to slow down his arm speed when throwing his 65-66 mph changeup.

David Brown, RHP, Whetstone
The 5’11, 180-pound right-handed pitcher shows average arm speed and short arm action through an over the top arm slot. He shows a straight fastball that sits at 77-79 mph. His curveball fluctuates between 61-65 mph. It shows 12/6 movement and tends to be erratic down in the zone. He slows down his arm speed when throwing his changeup, which sits at 65-66 mph and shows some fade. He will improve his overall effectiveness by correct some balance issues throughout his delivery.

Griffen Bowdle, RHP, Adena
The 6’3, 185-pound right-handed pitcher has a tall, lanky frame. He uses a slow, easy rhythm to his delivery. He shows quick arm speed through an over the top arm slot. His fastball sits between 77-81 mph. His curveball has gradual 12/6 break and stays between 61-62 mph. His changeup hangs around 69-70 mph and dshows some sink, but he has a tendency to push it.

Holden Russel, RHP, Granville
The 6’5, 195-pound right-handed pitcher has a tall, solid frame. Right now, he is an arm strength guy with the potential for development. He shows quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball sits between 81-83 mph (we saw him in the mid 80’s in November of 2011). His curveball is his best out pitch. It sits at 72 mph and shows late 12/6  breaking action. He lacks command of his changeup, which hangs around 73 mph. Overall, he will improve as he cleans up some mechanical issues and learns how to use his big body.

Kyle Gable, RHP, Bowsher
The 5’9, 175-pound right-handed pitcher uses a slow rhythm to his delivery. He uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball sits 73-74 mph and shows some run. His curveball sits 66-67 mph, but lacks effective break. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 66-67 mph. It shows some fade.

Malik Zuberi, MIF/RHP, Lakota West
Lanky, athletic prospect that registered a 5.09 40-yard dash on a slow, turf track. On the mound, the right-hander uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. His fastball sits at 78-79 mph and shows the occasional run. He lacks consistent command of his off speed pitches, including a 64-69 mph curveball and a 64 mph changeup. He shows versatility in the infield with ability to play several positions. He is aggressive to the ball and shows fluid footwork. He reached a top velocity of 78 mph across the infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a balanced, athletic setup with a short stride. He is a contact hitter with above average bat speed.

Seth McGuire, MIF/RHP, Chillicothe
Thin, lanky prospect that registered a 5.77 40-yard dash. On the mound, the right-hander uses a high ¾ to over the top arm slot with short arm action. His fastball sits at 70-73 mph. His curveball showed gradual break and sits at 62-64 mph. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 63-67 mph. In the field, he needs to improve the fluidity of his footwork. He uses short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot to reach a top velocity of 69 mph. At the plate, he uses a tall setup with a short stride. He is a contact hitter that will only get better as he becomes physically stronger and better incorporates his lower half
