With 2023 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage that can be found anywhere in 2024. 2024 Spring Team Preview: Portsmouth Trojans

Team Name: Portsmouth Trojans
Head Coach: Aaron Duncan
Division: III
2023 Record: 24-4
2023 Tourney Finish: District Finals loss to Lucasville Valley
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/3

Coach Outlook: "We finished the 2023 season ranked #3 in the State with a 24-3 record before falling to Valley in the District Finals. We graduated 2 All-Ohio players Vinnie Lonardo (pitcher) and Tyler Duncan (2nd Base, pitcher). We also graduated two three year starters in Reade Pendleton and A'mari Harmon. We return a strong nucleus of players from last year's team (6 starters and 3 arms). Our season will go as the development of our new young arms go. We lost in an extra innings showdown against a very strong Fairland squad for the OVC championship in 2023, and our expectations are to compete and win the OVC title this spring. Trevin Brooks and Jacob Roth were both starters as freshmen last season and will be relied upon to fill the void of Duncan and Lonardo in the starting rotation. I am optimistic in their abilities to do just that and the overall sentiment amongst the returning players and coaching staff is positive with high expectations for 2024!"
