The beginning of 2022 meant it was time for the Prep Baseball Report Scout Days to come into full action and that was the case once again this year.
Organizations throughout Ohio have been on display for nearly two months now as players not only hope to gain more exposure in their quest to be seen by college coaches, but also get a glimpse at their numbers to see what kind of progress has been made in the offseason.
Members of organizations in the state, from head coaches to director of player development, have been contacted and given the opportunity to provide a view of what stood out at their PBR Scout Days.
Over the next few weeks, PBR will publish a report on each of the Scout Days that have been submitted from organizations across Ohio.

2022 Organizational Spotlight: Ohio Heat
Dell Grunenber talks with us about the organization.
1) How do you feel the showcase went?
Grunenber: Overall the showcase went well for Ohio Heat. It had been a couple years since we participated in a PBR Scout Day and our 2024 and 2025 athletes enjoyed the experience and represented themselves and the organization well. All reports have been positive.
2) Who are some of the prospects that stood out to you?
Grunenber: Among the 2025s: Jovan Love and Adrian Smith. Among 2024s: Logan Sneed, Brennan Remy and Jacob Asbeck.
3) Any performances worth mentioning?
Grunenber: Jovan Love and Adrian Smith had the highest exit velos (96 and 91, respectively) and fielding velos (84 OF and 83 Pitching, respectively). Those are pretty solid numbers for freshmen.
4) In looking at summer, touch on some highlights that are ahead and what you expect.
Grunenber: Our 15U and 16U teams will be traveling across the midwest and south competing in various high-level events such as the Midwest Prospect League, Music City Classic, Black Swamp Classic and BCS National Championships. Our 15U team is fundamentally very strong and balanced in terms of pitching depth, offense and defense. They are coming off an excellent 14U season in 2021, and look to continue success established over the past five seasons. Our 16U team will be much improved with added pitching depth, high overall athleticism and team speed. They should be fun to watch with plus run-producing ability. A couple of our youth teams, 9U and 12U particularly, will be among the best in Ohio as well.
5) Are you registered for any PBR tournaments and, if so, which ones and what are your thoughts on them?
Grunenber: Yes, we will be attending several PBR events. Both our 15U and 16U teams will be at the PBR Showdown in early June at Lakepoint, and the All Prospects Showcase in Cincinnati the following weekend. We will also attend PBR-scouted 16U UC/Miami Showcase 1 and the 15U CABA Wood Bat World Series, with possibly more to add in August and the fall of 2022.
