The beginning of 2022 meant it was time for the Prep Baseball Report Scout Days to come into full action and that was the case once again this year.

Organizations throughout Ohio have been on display for nearly two months now as players not only hope to gain more exposure in their quest to be seen by college coaches, but also get a glimpse at their numbers to see what kind of progress has been made in the offseason.

Members of organizations in the state, from head coaches to director of player development, have been contacted and given the opportunity to provide a view of what stood out at their PBR Scout Days.

Over the next few weeks, PBR will publish a report on each of the Scout Days that have been submitted from organizations across Ohio.

2022 Organizational Spotlight: Launch Baseball

Josh Moss talks with us about the organization.

1) How do you feel the showcase went?
Moss: I thought the showcase went well. Jordan and crew always do a great job of getting the guys through all phases of the event without issue. For our first year we had 44 players attend in ages 15U-17U. Our teams have put in a lot of work this fall and winter and it was exciting to see their efforts pay off with some of the performances.

2) Who are some of the prospects that stood out to you?

  • 2022 RHP Ty Pangborn - Ty missed his entire spring and summer seasons due to injury. Watching him attack his rehab and come back stronger has been impressive.
  • 2023 RHP Griffin White - Griffin continues to make jumps and has recently picked up his first D1 offer. He hit a couple PR's at this event. We’re high on Griffin and think he's got much more coming.
  • 2023 C/RHP Ben Clark - Starting to draw some legitimate interest from a couple D1 programs.
  • 2024 RHP Luke Bryant
  • 2024 RHP/SS Garret Roach
  • 2024 RHP Kyle Haag
  • 2025 C Ezra Kurek
  • 2025 RHP/OF Jake Uhlenake

3) Any performances worth mentioning?

  • 2022 RHP Ty Pangborn
  • 2023 C/RHP Ben Clark
  • 2023 INF Brady Carr

4) In looking at summer, touch on some highlights that are ahead and what you expect.
Moss: For our 23’s, 24's, 25's, we put together a great schedule with a  mix of regional and national type events. We're excited to see how our players compete and stack up with other quality organizations. We’re very excited to watch how recruiting plays out for these guys as we have kids across all three groups that are currently engaged in the process.

5) Are you registered for any PBR tournaments and, if so, which ones and what are your thoughts on them?
Moss: Our 2023's are playing in the PBR Summer Championships at Grand Park and the PBR Indiana Open in Kokomo. We always look forward to these events. They bring quality competition and the coverage that is provided is very beneficial to our players.
