The state of Texas is known for producing some of the top talent in the country. Players mature and grow at their own rate, some bloom early in their high school career while others make jumps later. Even though the recruiting cycle has changed in recent history with players committing earlier and earlier, there are still uncommitted seniors that are coming into their own and putting together great seasons. Our staff has been out all spring covering games throughout the state. This week we will highlight some of the top uncommitted seniors we have seen. Today we look at eight infielders.

Jake Murphy, SS, Carroll HS, 2017
Estimated 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. Murphy hit a game winning walk off home run on Friday night. The senior hits lead-off and plays shortstop for Southlake Carroll. Although Murphy projects more as a second baseman at the next level, he runs well, has present bat speed and strength, and would be a nice addition to a recruiting class.

Collin McDuffee, 2B, Wakeland, 2017
5-foot-10, 165-pound frame. McDuffee hits in the two-hole for a Wakeland team that is having a stellar season. This past friday night, the right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base. McDuffee is a quick-twitch player and showed solid range on the infield with a glove flip assist on a ball squibbed between first and second. With his speed, ability to handle the bat, start and finish the double play at second, McDuffee would make a nice addition to a recruiting class.

Kellen Rogers, 2B, Atascocita HS, 2017
Estimated 5-foot-8, 145-pound, frame. The second baseman showed solid actions on the infield with above average range. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 in game one with a double down the first base line where he ran a 4.49-second home-to-first time with a turn. He also had a base hit on a drag bunt, and ran a 4.27-second time to first base. He also stole a bag and walked once. Although his arm strength suggests that second base is a good fit, the uncommitted senior has a live body and hits in the two hole for a very good Atascocita team.

Nick Rodriguez, SS, Weatherford HS, 2017
5-foot-9, 170-pound frame. This uncommitted senior shows quick feet at shortstop with average range, midline actions, and enough arm strength to play at the next level. The right-handed hitter had three quality at-bats and was 1-for-3. He flew out to left-center on the barrel, drove in a run on another sac fly to center and had a shallow base hit to right field.

Nick Cisneros, 3B, Cy Ranch, 2017
5-foot-10, 160-pound, wiry, athletic frame. Cisneros is a good looking athlete on the left side of the infield. His footwork is smooth, exchanges are quick with a clean, easy arm action and enough arm strength to play the left side of the infield. His frame is projectable enough to add strength and since he is a left-handed hitter, Cisneros would be a quality sign for a college program.

Cody Cleveland, 2B, Heath HS, 2017
5-foot-8, 165-pound frame. The uncommitted senior went 2-for-3 and showcased elite-level speed from the left-side of the plate. On a base hit in the six-hole, he ran a 4.2-second home-to-first time. In his next two at-bats, both drag bunts, Cleveland ran a 3.72 and a 3.76-second times to first base.

Michael Morissette, 1B, Frisco Centennial HS, 2017
6-foot-5, 225-pound frame. In the previous game, he got the game winning walk-off  hit on a ground ball through the right side to score Weston Symes. A three-sport athlete, Morissette is an imposing figure in the left-handed batters box. Although the uncommitted senior didn’t have much to show for it at the plate in game two, he showed strength at contact with a fly ball to deep centerfield. Morisette starts with a tall setup and a lower hand position, and creates lift and strength at contact. Although his swing is choppy at times, with Morissette’s size and athletic ability, he is an intriguing prospect for college recruiters.

Seth Green, SS, Argyle HS, 2017
5-foot-7, 165-pound frame. Green is a nice player that has good footwork and feel for ground ball angles. He showed good range making several nice plays on pop-ups in the “triangle”. His bat also played a part as he had two triples, one to center field and the other to left center. Ran a 4.64 on the turn.
