Key Players Lost From 2014:
- Hayden Shenefield-SS/2B Ohio Northern-Three year starter
Number of Returning Starters/Pitchers: 8/5
Strengths of Team:
- Quite a bit of experience coming back
- Depth has improved considerably and will have some competition at positions even with returning starters
- Pitching staff is deeper this year
- Outstanding outfield
Weaknesses of Team:
- Not much to build off of from prior seasons
- No dominant arm on staff. Will rely on throwing a lot of strikes and forcing opponents to put the ball in play
- Not much quickness/speed among infield. Range will be an issue
Top Prospects in Class of 2015:
- Dominic Brown-2015 CF L/L Four year starter in CF. Great awareness, anticipation and range in the outfield. Solid/accurate arm. Improved power at the plate. Ranked 140th in 2015 class.
Top Prospects in Class of 2016:
- Colton Hann-2016 C R/R Solid catcher. Vastly improved arm strength and pop time from start of last season. Great blocking/receiving, takes command of game. Started as a soph.
- Hyatt Shenefield-2016 R/R 2B/P/3B Solid infielder, extremely smart baseball player. Contact hitter with good understanding of the strike zone. High on base guy. As a pitcher comes projects to be out closer, coming from a couple different angles and sitting around 80 mph.
- Trey Flores-2016 R/R OF Outstanding defensive outfielder. Lots of range. Needs to improve overall strength and offensive production. Started most of the year last year, but will be pushed for his spot by incoming frosh.
- Drew George-2016 R/R INF/P Coming back after a year out due to leukemia. Before diagnosis was a potential DI prospect. Still down about 30 pounds but is starting back at school this semester.
Top Prospects in Class of 2017:
- Dominic Frengel-2017 3B/P/C R/R Started as a freshman last year on Varsity from day one. Was top pitcher and beat state ranked TWHS in a 1-0 shutout and then a week later beat state ranked Olentangy Orange. Also batted in the middle of lineup all year, projects as our 3 hole this season. Lots of upside and potential.
- Ryan McDaniel-2017 P/SS/3B L/R Started as a freshman last year
- Brock Wajda-2017 2B/OF R/R Saw mostly JV action last year with a couple varsity games as well. Strong young man. Gap to gap power with a nice short swing. Doesn't strike out much. Extremely hard worker with great baseball genes (dad was an outfielder at OSU).
Top Prospects in Class of 2018:
- Thomas Wilson-2018 OF/P R/R Will push for action in the Varsity outfield this year. Unbelievable strength for a freshman (starting fullback on the football team) (squatting over 300lbs). Hit 12 home runs on high school fields last summer.
- Brayden Carter-2018 SS L/R Very bright future for this young man. Tireless worker in classroom, weight room and on the field. Playing for Ohio Elite this summer. May push for varsity time as well.
