Event Operations NY/PA

Welcome back to 'Under The Radar'. The goal of this new series is to shine some light on players our staff feels can make an impact at the next level in a college lineup. This series will mainly be highlighting hitters that we have seen in recent events. There can be numerous reasons for a player to be 'Under The Radar', including but not exclusive to; height/weight projections, not a metric darling, ect. This week we are highlighting '26 MIF Evan Erickson (Monroe-Woodbury) who we saw at our NY Fall Top Prospect Games on 9/29 hosted at Bard College.

Our staff has seen Erickson a handful of times over the past year. He has shown a gradual progression in all facets of his game. Erickson has a smaller/leaner frame that is steadily filling out, this added strength has shown a +8 MPH increase on his exit velocity over the last year.

Offensively: Erickson's swing has a certain fluidity to it that is appealing. The barrel is whippy/loose allowing him to use all parts of the field. He projects as a top of the order type bat that can be a table setter for an offense. He might not slug like a big 1B, but it's easy to see him being a gap to gap hitter with plenty of doubles/triples.

Defensively: The thing that stood out the most about Erickson was his calm demeanor defensively. Keeps the game slow and has a good internal clock. The arm velo is there (83 MPH) to stick at SS at the next level, but currently projects as a 2B with the versatility to shift to the OF. The one limiting factor at SS is the current limited range, which can see an increase as the frame continues to develop and get stronger.
