Scouting Report

2/22/23

Physical: 5-foot-10, 170 pounds; Athletic, sturdy build. 4.05 30 yd dash.

Offensively: LHH. Open setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a toe-tap for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a short swing path with a two handed finish.  More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 90 MPH via Trackman.

Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep step while showing choppy feet. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. OF - 90 MPH. Glides around the outfield with a clean arm action, gets on top of the ball well.

Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup working primarily from the stretch. Belt high leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while showing some scap load; standard 3/4 slot. Square to the plate with finish. FB: Peak velo of 82 MPH, while sitting 81 - 82 MPH; commands both sides.  SL: 70 - 71 MPH; 2-tier break. CH: 73 - 76 MPH; fading action. OTHER: SNK 81 MPH. SK: arm side run.

2/23/22

Physical: 5-foot-10, 170 pounds; Athletic, proportional build.

Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Loads straight back with a toe-tap for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a short swing path with a two handed finish.  More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 90 MPH via Trackman. plus bat speed and feel for the barrel (92% sweet spot).

Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are soft with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot.  OF - 87 MPH. strong, accurate arm

Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup working primarily from the stretch. Belt high leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while showing no restrictions; high 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 80 MPH, while sitting 79-80 MPH; life through the zone with arm side run. CB: high spin with 11-5 shape. SL: 68-70 MPH. CH: 73-74 MPH; sinks.

3/27/21

Physical: 5-foot-10, 170LBS. Broad shouldered frame. 

Offensively: LHH. Starts balanced with feet slightly wider than shoulder width. Hands at shoulder height. Weight rocks onto the rear leg as the hands move straight back. Has some barrel wiggle during the loading process. Uses a toe tap for timing. Hands move into a bow and arrow with a vertical barrel angle at launch. Strong, violent move towards the baseball resulting in a slightly uphill bat path. 

Defensively: Primary OF. Starts squared to the plate and bend in the knees. High level mover, positively using momentum and hacks the kinetic chain during the throwing process. Fields ball out front and transfers at chest height. Long arm swing releasing from an OTT arm slot. 

Pitching: RHP. Starts in the middle of the rubber with hands at waist height. Uses a rocker step and a leg lift to slightly above waist height. Drops into the backside as he moves down and out the slope. On glove break the arm goes down and back while going through the circle without restriction. Quality movements from the young RHP.
