Has an athletic build at 5-foot-11, 173 pounds. Ran a 7.33 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart. Slight bend in the knees. Has a short compact swing and direct path to the baseball. Gets good use of lower half. Sprayed the ball all over the field in BP. Top exit velocity 86 MPH. Defensively- As an OF, an aggressive approach to the baseball. Showed smooth actions when fielding the baseball. Displayed long loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Throws have some carry. Top throwing velocity 80 MPH.

An athletic build 5-foot-11, 173 pounds. Offensively- Stands tall in the box with a slight bend in the knees. Short simple load, direct path to the baseball. Slight lift at point of contact. Showed hard consistent contact to the middle and opposite field. Stays balanced throughout his swing. Top exit velocity 87 MPH Defensively- Aggressive to the baseball. Above average exchange to a long ¾ arm slot. Displayed carry on his throws to home plate. Fields the ball slightly off-center. Top throwing velocity 83 MPH. Pitching- shows a live arm. Slight drop and drive. Works downhill with intent. FB peaked at 78 MPH. CB ranged from 68-71 MPH showed feel for 2 seam FB 75-78 MPH with arm side run. The 2021 graduate is a must follow.
ENY ASG (September 15, 2018)
5-foot-11, 165-pounds. Ran a 7.15 60 Yard Dash. Offensively - Balanced set-up with slight knee bend. Hands stay relaxed. Maintains rhythm with subtle bat wiggle. Compact swing that consistently stays inside of the ball. Low effort hitting actions. Routinely found barrel during BP. Projects to hit for more power in the future. Exit Velocity was 83 MPH. Defensively - Fundamentally sound in the OF. Stays behind the ball while working into throws. Uses side shuffle with lower half to create momentum. Throws from high 3/4 slot with loose arm action. Arm strength was 79 MPH.
Preseason - East (February 22, 2017)
Stands 5 feet 10 inches, 155-pounds. Has an lean build with room to grow. Ran a 4.65 home to 1st. Offensively- Contois stands straight up in the box, with little bat wiggle pre pitch. Has a short stride to the ball for timing. Hands a quick and compact. Reaches full two handed extension to the ball. Has a tendency to dip the barrel through the zone. Finishes his swing with 2 hands. Exit Velo was measured at- 71 MPH. Defensively- Has short choppy prep steps, could benefit from a more aggressive approach. Fields the ball out front and to the side. Shows average mechanics. Throws from an over the top arm slot. Outfield Velo- 72 mph. Pitching- Sets up on the first base side of the mound with a rocker step. Brings front leg tight into his body and gets full extension to the plate. Has a quick delivery to the plate. Arm slot is at a slight ¾. Average arm strength. Fastball topped out at 77. Sat 74-75. Curveball sat 62-65 MPH with tight break.
Last Chance Preview (October 14, 2017)
Contois stands in at 5-foot-10, 155-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.73 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise in to stride forward while his hands move back slightly to get into the hitting position. Good lower body rotation getting his hips cleared and utilizes his whole-body frame in the swing. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage and the ability to hit to all fields during batting practice round. Swing will get better with added strength. Recorded an exit velocity of 74 MPH. Defensively- Shows a good approach to get underneath the baseball. Transition from glove to the throwing hand could be quicker while gaining more ground in the process of the throw. Moves well left/right and recorded a positional arm velocity in the outfield of 72 MPH. Pitching- Righty sets up in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step and a mid-thigh leg raise. Breaks down well with good arm separation into a low ¾ release point. Utilizes whole body frame well during delivery with consistent mechanics. Has a strong finish getting himself into a proper fielding position. Fastball range was 72-74 MPH and peaked at 74 MPH and good arm side run. Slider was 62-63 MPH with tight action that was consistent in the zone.
