Wladyka Baseball and Baseball Warehouse recently teamed up for a duel Scout Day at North Brunswick Community Park. Both programs produced some strong performances, most notably the players below.

Wladyka Top Performers

+ Leading off the event and showing a much improved toolset was uncommitted 2022 OF/INF RJ Fiore (St. Peter's Prep HS, NJ). Fiore stands an athletic 6-foot 175-pounds with some strength. Ran an event-best 6.71-60 yard dash, topped at 86 from the OF and 83 from the INF at SS. Relaxed, athletic start to his swing with hands just above back shoulder. As pitch arrives, uses a small leg lift and stride to start his swing. Hands load up and around head. Level bat path with some whip to the finish, Fiore was routinely on the barrel through his round of BP and topped at 92 mph. Fiore is one of the top uncommitted players in the 2022 class from New Jersey.

+ Uncommitted 2022 Aidan Casey (Don Bosco Prep HS, NJ) has shown some solid growth as well since we last got to see him. Athletic 5-foot-10 170-pounds with still some room to fill out the frame, ran the 60 in 6.75-seconds which was one of the top 60 times coming out of the event. At the plate, quiet, tall stance with hands set just above back shoulder. Uses a small foot lift and stride to start swing. Uphill bat path through finish. 93 exit velocity. Smooth hands and some carry from SS in the infield, Casey shows some upside on both sides of the ball.

+ Really liked the way that 2022 OF Andrei Risko (Suffern HS, NY) performed on this day. Solidly built at 5-foot-11 170-pounds - ran a 6.88 60 yard dash and recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph. At the plate, starts in a tall, opened stance with hands above back shoulder. Small foot lift to start swing. Compact bat path with extension out front through contact. Stays in his legs through finish. 

+ Uncommitted 2022 C Lukas Tsai (Bergen Catholic HS, NJ) is as versatile as they come. The 5-foot-11 175-pounder is a switch hitting catcher/infielder/outfielder and plays all of the positions regularly enough to be considered a true jack of all trades. At the plate, tagged line drives into the gap with back spin and carry. Wide, crouched stance with minimal prepitch movement, uses a small lift and stride to start swing with a level bat path through the hitting zone. 

+ Recent Manhattan College recruit Gregory Shaw III (Cornwall HS, NY) was an intriguing two way prospect who impressed throughout the event. Real strong and physical build at 6-foot-3, 207-pounds. Wide, athletic stance. Slight hand movement directly backwards during his load. Strong through the zone with easy gap-to-gap pop. Recorded an exit velocity of 99 MPH, tied for the tops at the event. Showed well on the mound as well running his FB up to 87 MPH. 

+ Uncommitted 2022 Nolan Niziol (Pope John XXIII HS, NJ) draws tons of attention due to his size alone. Stands at an imposing 6-foot-8, 240-pounds. One of the most impressive BP rounds of the event where he consistently peppered the trees beyond the right field wall. Uses a toe tap stride with his hands cocked back early. Keeps his hands inside the ball and displays some clear pull side power. Exit velo of 97 MPH. Quality work on the mound during gameplay as well. Pounded the zone with a 78-81 MPH FB. Mixed in a tight breaker at 65-67 MPH as well a CH at 73-74 MPH.

+ 2022 Jack Cannizzaro (Don Bosco Prep HS, NJ) has also made a recent commitment to James Madison University. He burst onto the scene this summer and never failed to impress. Strong build at 6-foot, 195-pounds. Has an early load at the plate, always on time. Hands extend through the zone. Quick hands. Creates extension in his back leg. Showed he can stick behind the plate as well. Pop times ranging from 1.91-2.00 seconds with a top throwing velo of 80 MPH. Threw out multiple runners during gameplay as well. 

 

BASEBALL WAREHOUSE TOP PERFORMERS

+ Uncommitted 2023 Justin Batts (Bergen Catholic HS, NJ) has been on the radar since last summer and continues to show well. Strong, broad-shouldered build at 5-foot-11, 230-pounds. Starts in a slightly open stance, uses an average leg kick. Smooth weight transfer. Aggressive lower half, generates power to all fields. Present barrel awareness. Exit velo of 98 MPH. Good reps at third base. 79 MPH on throws across the diamond. Stays low, athletic through the ball. 

+ 2023 Rutgers commit Zachary Konstantinovsky (North Brunswick HS, NJ) had another impressive outing on the mound. Projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Free and easy on the mound with rhythm and tempo throughout his delivery. Stride direction stays in line. Strong brace leg. FB showed late life through the zone at 85-87 MPH. He paired that with a quality 11/5 breaker consistently in the zone at 74-76 MPH. Is a proven strikethrower, had 70 K's compared to only 10 walks during the high school season. 

+ Another talented backstop we saw during this event was uncommitted 2023 Charlie Taub (Edison HS, NJ). Compact and physical build at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. Starts tall in an open stance. Hands are up high and stay locked in position with a slight, natural bat wrap. Impressive approach, consistent line drives to the opposite field. Exit velo of 92 MPH. Quality metrics behind the dish as well, recording pop times ranging from 1.97-2.03 seconds with a top throwing velo of 77 MPH. Soft hands. Quick transfer, compact arm action. 

+ Uncommitted 2022 Nolan Watlington (South Brunswick HS, NJ) had one of the top BP rounds of the event. Displayed some surprising power from his compact and athletic frame, 5-foot-9, 165-pounds. Starts tall and slightly open at the plate. Stride puts him into a more athletic position with a wider base. Keeps his back elbow parallel to the ground. Hands create some pre-pitch rhythm. Hands fly through the zone. Creates extension through the zone. Put a couple balls over the LF wall with ease. Twitchy actions in the infield, recorded a top velo of 80 MPH on throws to bases. Short, compact arm action. 

+ A guy who definitely caught some attention with an impressive gameplay outing on the mound was uncommitted 2023 Casey Cumiskey (Spotswood HS, NJ). Uber projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Slow and gradual delivery with clean movements. Efficiently rides the slope. Even shoulder tilt. Compact and athletic arm action. Worked at 80-82 MPH touching 83 MPH with his FB. Repeatedly dropped in a 64-65 MPH CB with depth in for strikes. Struck out 3 of the 5 batters he faced. True competitor. Is also a two way guy, with quality metrics offensively. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.97 seconds with a top exit velocity of 89 MPH. 

+ Strictly looking at numerical statistics, it is easy to tell that 2023 Michael Colonnello (Sayreville HS, NJ) was a clear standout. Ran a sub seven 60 yard dash, hit 90 MPH on throws from the outfield while recording a top exit velocity of 94 MPH. At the plate, has an open stance with a big leg kick. Slight movement in his hands during his load. Once his foot is down, just lets his hands work. Elite bat speed and barrel awareness, smashing the ball to all fields. Showed well on the mound also, working 80-82 MPH touching 84 MPH. CB had smaller, tighter action at 68-72 MPH. 

+ Uncommitted 2022 Luke Bickunas (South Plainfield HS, NJ) was yet another catcher who impressed throughout the two days. Has a strong and physical build at 6-foot-1, 220-pounds. Can move it for his impressive size, recording a 60 yard dash time in 7.36 seconds. Monster round at the dish, effortlessly driving balls all over the yard. Simple stroke with a compact load. Keeps his hands inside the ball and will go to all fields. His top exit velocity was 94 MPH. Solid behind the plate as well, with pop times ranging from 1.95-2.06 seconds to go with a top throwing velocity of 77 MPH. Strong, on-target throws to bases.
