Wilmarth is one of the top arms in the '24 class for a reason. At 5-foot-10, 180lbs, Wilmarth makes extremely good use out of his frame. The sophomore righty is full of twitchy movements and big time range of motion. Wilmarth uses a short leg kick and wastes no time getting down the mound. He is able to stride close to his entire body length down the mound while still staying closed with his shoulders. Doing this gives him the most separation he can possibly create. Wilmarth gets the foot down and slams the upper half into the downhill rotation followed by his whippy arm. There is a lot to like about Wilmarth, from the clean mechanics clear down the his bulldog mentality on the mound. He generates a solid amount of IVB on his heater (15.4" average & 18" max) while being able to spin it into the low 2500's. Wilmarth spins a CB at 73 MPH with good two plane bite on it and then is able to pull the string on a CH that is 77-78 MPH with 16.9" of horizontal movement on average. We can't forget about the SL that fights vertical break and bites on the horizontal break at -6" of glove side break at 77-78 MPH. Wilmarth will continue to refine and polish his pitches and mechanics, giving him even more room until he reaches his ceiling. Wilmarth's repeatability makes him an easy frontline starter candidate at the next level, where ever that may be. More to come from Wilmarth during the HS season and into the summer!
