Tim Hunter
VP of Operations

It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. While the outcome of the 2020 HS season is on hold, the Prep Baseball Report (NY) will continue to provide unrivaled coverage for the amateur baseball players in the Empire State.

As we continue our follow up of the Preseason Tour, we will be highlighting "Top Performer Spotlights" on players who recently stood-out at our preseason events. Stay tuned with us for the latest information on the 2020 spring season and beyond.

Standout Skill
His pitching ability definitely stands out the most to me. His high velo for a young player, pitching location ability, and the way he delivers the baseball is all things I like watching him do. His delivery is low and controlled at the start, then he explodes forward with quick arm action. Another thing he does is he hinds the ball well when pitching making it very tough for a hitter to pick up.
Player Projection
I see Carbone becoming more as a pitchers as he continues to develop his game. A young lefty with good size already throwing low 80s has so much potential to dominate as he moves forward. Has a four pitch mix and can spin the ball exceptionally well for a young player. Consistently throws strikes with his FB and low in the zone to make it challenging on hitters.

Quick Hit
"Big and wide stance at the plate, bat starts flat and pointed down at the ground behind his head. Small leg lift to a heavy lean to his backside for a load. Attacks the ball defensively coming through it with good momentum. Fields it clean outside his glove foot and crop-hops into a low throw. On the mound he tends to fill up the zone with low fastballs working the knees. Slow start then speeds up pace in delivery. A lot of spin to his off-speed pitches."
