It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. Scouting Report
Physical: 5-foot-11, 178-pounds. Athletic, lean frame. 6.97 runner in the 60; 4.19 home-to-1B.
Offensively: LHH. Tall, relaxed stance with a wide base, hands slightly above shoulders with a level bat, slight bat waggle with a medium leg kick Short bat path, barrel gets to the point of contact quickly, good extension through contact, swing path stays level throughout. Opposite field to up the middle approach. 84 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Small hop for timing, consistent footwork on approach, stays low on attack and fields the ball in the middle of the body funneling into the stomach, sure hands. Short arm swing with a low 3/4 slot. INF - 82 MPH.
Pitching Delivery: Steady pace, fundamental delivery into an easy effort repeatable release; more in the tank.
Arm Action: Long, fluid arm action with high 3/4 release.
FB: T81, 79-80 MPH. Commands low with downhill plane.
CB: 68-69 MPH. 12-6 shape.
CH: 71-73 MPH. Good hand speed with arm side fade.

"Overall, I like what I see. Peterson showed us a lot of tools defensively and even on the mound. I would like to see him a little more loose at the plate though. Meaning, his lower half to me just looks very stiff while his hands and finish are loose. I want the lower half to mimic the upper and be loose throughout the entire swing. Maybe a little more comfortability is what it is."
