It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. While the outcome of the 2020 HS season is on hold, the Prep Baseball Report (NY) will continue to provide unrivaled coverage for the amateur baseball players in the Empire State.

As we continue our follow up of the Preseason Tour, we will be highlighting "Top Performer Spotlights" on players who recently stood-out at our preseason events. Stay tuned with us for the latest information on the 2020 spring season and beyond.

Scouting Report

Physical: 6-foot-3, 180-pounds. Tall, Lean build.
Run: 7.53 runner in the 60.
Hit: RHH. Tall stance; even feet and shoulder width; slightly open; small leg lift into a smooth stride; tends to close himself off. Middle of the field to pull side; consistent contact; barreled up; high two-handed finish; level bat path.
Power: 86 MPH raw exit velocity. shows pop to pull side gap, good solid line drives.
Defense: Fields the baseball upright. Would like to see him get lower; good footwork around the bag; keeps the ball in front of him.
Arm: 3/4 arm slot; long arm swing; uses full body behind throw. INF - 83 MPH.

Pitching Delivery: Steady pace, Knee gets above the waist on leg lift before sitting in to back leg on stride out, Stays in line with shoulders; stays balanced through a repeatable release and follow through.
Arm Action: Long, fluid arm swing to a high 3/4 release.
FB: T85, 83-85 MPH. Downhill plane with arm side run; rides through zone when elevated.
CB: 71-72 MPH. Tight break with 11-5 shape.
CH: 69-70 MPH. Slows down some; locates down with arm side fade.

Standout Skill
His standout skill to me would be his pitching, ultimately because there's so much upside with Hall. 6-foot-3 and on the mound he looks even taller, now add that high 3/4 arm release and you're looking at a very downhill pitch as a hitter. The ball comes out a little harder than it looks and he keeps the same arm action with his changeup that falls off arm side.
Player Projection
I see Hall becoming a dominant pitcher, still has plenty of room for improving in mechanics and arm strength, which will ultimately result in higher velo and better off-speed. Very repeatable delivery, but the way the ball comes out of his hand is electric.

Quick Hit
"Solid frame with plenty of potential to hold more weight as he continues to grow. Showed tendencies of struggling to get to the low pitch, needs to get more into his lower half to get down and get the ball. Does a good job of driving the ball to pull side gap with good backspin line drives. Choppy footwork around the back, but good quick arm whip. Looks stiff trying to field it, try to be a little more loose and make it look fluid when fielding. On the mound, the ball comes out of his hand quick with a high release. FB runs through the zone."
