Top Performer Spotlight: 2021 OF/RHP Ethan Thompson (Highland HS)

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Thompson, a 2021 graduate impressed July 17 with his physicality on the field, swing in the box, and arm from the mound.  Pure and loose swing from the left-side that produces current pull-side power, the ball really jumped of fhis bat during BP.  On the mound the big righty uses simple repeatable mechanics, a short arm-swing with fast hand-speed out in front. Low 80's FB already but expect to see more velocity as he contiunes to develop.

Stands 6-foot-3, 180-pounds with a projectable lean frame. At the plate, fluid short swing path from the left-side producing above average power projection, especially to his pullside, exit velo of 85 mph. In the OF, fields to his glove side, slower transfer, throws from a 3/4 slot with 78 mph arm-strenght. Pitching, sound repeatable mechanics, arm-action is deep and shorter prior to powering forward. Releases the ball from a high 3/4 slot, fastball sits 81-83 with downward deth and command. CB 69-71 with 11/6 shape, loose at times. Very good looking young prospect to keep a close eye on.
