July 15, 2019
Since June 7th, our boot-on-the-ground scouting team have seen 500+ players at showcase events, including the 2019 NYS Games. Already, 100's of players have caught the eyes of our professional scouting staff, all with dreams of playing baseball at the next-level. Over the remainder of the summer I (Dan Cevette) will be highlighting "Top Performer Spotlights" on players who really stood-out and offering my "Quick-Hit" thoughts on the players.

Cevette's quick hit
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: I had the privilege of seeing the greater Albany area 2021 OF Chance Checca, at the 2019 NYS Games. The first thing that stood-out to me was the lower half strength and athleticism, evidenced by this 6.78 60-yard dash. During BP, his hands explode to the ball producing way above-average bat-speed (96 off a tee) from a barrel hat produces lift. During the game portion he took a mid 80's fastball over the left-field fence, an easy 380 foot shot, and it looked effortless. Defensively he's very capable of roaming the OF, or locking down the hot-corner, as we have witnessed him play both positions comfortably. The only part of his game that I'd like to see take a boost is his arm-strength. He's upper 70's now but it's really easy and low effort, with some additional attention to the arm this fall/winter, Checca could easily be a mid 80's arm-strength guy by next Feb. Very excited to see his growth over the next few years.
