Scouting Report
Campus Series - St. Bonaventure - July 11, 2017 Hendershot stands in at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 4.67 home to first, slightly off of his 4.47 posting last week at our Canisius Campus Event. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with his torso leaning forward towards the pitcher holding his hands just above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise into the body to stride forward while his hands move back and down slightly into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing his hips and using the whole body in the process of the swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with an upward lift barrel action throughout into a high two-handed follow through. Demonstrated consistent solid contact with good plate coverage driving the ball to all fields during batting practice round. Showed more pop in his swing this week hitting the ball with authority to the gaps and spraying line drives foul line to foul line. Recorded an exit velocity of 90 MPH, tying his personal best. Defensively- Continues to show a fluid approach and footwork getting to the baseball. Shows good fielding mechanics funneling the ball into the chest and a quick transition to the throwing position. Has aggressive footwork towards intended target and is accurate with throws. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Can make the athletic play. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 83 MPH, up 2 MPH from last week’s Canisius Campus Event. Continues to improve off impressive numbers.
